Get answers to your questions about the Next Generation GMAT exam.

Q)    Is there an additional break?
A)    The exam will continue to have two breaks: one after Integrated Reasoning and one after the Quantitative section.

Q)    Will the exam be longer?
A)    No. Integrated Reasoning is 30 minutes and replaces one of the 30-minute Analytical Writing Assessment essays.

Q)   Will the new section be computer adaptive?
A)    No, your response to one question won’t affect the next question you receive. But you will not be able to skip questions or go to a previous screen to change your answers.

Q)    Why is the exam changing?
 A)    The GMAT exam has continually evolved in more than five decades of existence. GMAC surveys business faculty to ensure that the exam measures the academic skills they need to see in incoming students. Technology has made the world more data driven, and today’s managers need to integrate data into meaningful information.

Q)    If I don’t need the IR score for my school, can I skip that section?
A)    No, all sections of the exam must be completed.

Q)    Will a calculator be allowed in the section of the exam?
A)    Yes, on Integrated Reasoning only.

Q)    If I have a current accommodations approval, do I need to reapply to have accommodations for the new exam?
A)    No, as long as you have an approval that has not expired, you do not need to reapply for accommodations.

Q)    When is the last day I can take the current version of the GMAT exam?
A)    June 2. The GMAT exam will not be offered June 3 and 4 while test centers prepare to administer the new exam.

Q)    If I’ve taken the test before but want an Integrated Reasoning score, can I take the new section by itself?
A)    No, Integrated Reasoning is not offered separately.

Q)    How long will it take to get Next Gen score reports?
A)    You should plan to take the exam at least 20 days before any deadline to get an Official Score Report.  Official Score Reports currently arrive much faster, but they will take the full 20 days when Next Gen launches in 2012.
