The proliferation of so-called cybersquatters, people who register the Internet domain names of high-profile companies in hopes of reselling the rights to those names for a profit, led to passing the Anti-Cybersquatting Consumer Protection Act in 1999, allowing companies to seek up to $100,000 in damages against those who register domain names with the sole intent of selling them later.

说说我的想法：先根据sole intent of doing sth. 排除B,D后，根据lead to 排除A。 C，E里面，C我认为 in 1999怪怪的当时，后来想起来和那个on earth的题似乎挺象的。都是把定语从句放在紧密修饰的词后面，E错是因为passed和allowing做伴随状语，修饰不了act?

A错。allowing，成了proliferation led to XXX 之后的伴随了。修饰的主语错误。

D错。and it allows的it指代有歧义，可以是proliferation，也可以是act。

E错。allowing跟在and后面，主谓关系混乱。

B错。which，根据GMAT规律，修饰了1999。

C我其实也有疑问，with the sole intent of selling 难道没有修饰主语的歧义吗，可以是companies，也可以是those who register XXX？？？

A: passing应该改成passage，这里强调结果不是过程

B: in 1999有修饰歧义，按原文应该是passage；they指代有歧义，应该指names，同时要用被动时态

C: correct

D: it指代歧义，应该是Act

E: 同上

注意：

1、分词和名词的区别，一般都是考用到名词的

2、in 1999 时间状语的位置改变会有修饰歧义

3、intent of selling的用法

“intent of selling的用法”是个什么用法？prep前面有好几道题都是很明确的of doing错，我就把当当成ets的一个错误点了，它就马上给我来一个对的。

句子的意思是比较好理解的，总之某些东西的多发导致了一个法案的通过，然后如何如何了...

文章的第一处差别在于passing ACCPA， the passage of ACCPA 和 ACCPA, passed ...

passing和passage的差别在于前者强调过程后者强调结果

所以passing ACCPA在这里不如the passage of ACCPA好，实际上之前的proliferation of cybersquatters导致了ACCPA通过这个结果，而不是导致了通过这个过程。当然如果仔细读，也会看出这里导致的是这个ACCPA的通过，而不是ACCPA本身

OK,所以第一处差别我们会认为 BC的表达比A好比DE好

我们继续看第二处差别 A用了allowing D 用了and it allows E用了passed and allowing BC用了which allows 这里使用定语从句可以更好的修饰ACCPA的内容，如果A的表达allowing会优先表示一个伴随状语，并且会是一个伴随过程状语，但是这个allowing不能由主句主语发出，并不是Proliferation allow ...应该是ACCPA allow，这个allow动词和主语的一致性问题同样发生在D选项，it allows的it仍然会优先指代前面的proliferation，E选项的passed and allowing 在句尾的确可以优先做定语修饰前面的ACCPA，所以第二处差别比较我们认为BC的表达比E好更比AD好
