因为CD和manhattan都没有找到解释，所以想请教一下各位NN~
1、prep中给的A的解释中说previous to when表达笨拙，但是我个人觉得这里to是介词，介词后面可以跟句子吗？（而且这里还是个状语从句。。。）所以我觉得这里不能说是表达笨拙，而是表达错误。
2、sb's doing这个结构肯定是不好的,OG里也说过，但是我想问一下这个结构是不是因为暗含了进行时的概念所以才不好？

说一点我的看法吧
1.单就previous to when的用法来讲，是重复冗余的，就像是before when的含义是一样的： When引导时间状语或名词性从句已经表示“当…的时候”，表示主句事件在该时间发生，就不需要再来个before或者是previous

2.介词后面当然是可以加句子的啦，记得那几个except that、in that吗？来个例子：The book reminds me of what he has said. 不都是介词+句子——单就用法没错，就是这道题来讲，是由于previous to when表达笨拙且语义重复

3.sb‘s doing——实际上就是想把doing当做是动名词来处理，但是我们知道，如果动词本身有名词形式，那么就用其名词，因为动名词的使用不如直接用动作性名词好，名词又不如动词好。
但是sb’s doing本身并没有错误，就是一个有效性的问题

动名词复合结构形式不是不好，而是复合结构有特定的用法。
物主代词或所有格名词与动名词连用，用来引出动名词的逻辑主语。当句子主语不是动名词动作的执行者时，就需要给出动名词的逻辑主语了。比如
Clint insisted on reading the letter. 克林特坚持要看信。
Clint insisited on my reading the letter. 克林特坚持要我看信。

一般动名词的复合结构要在句子中做主语时，就应该用所有格。比如
Tom's refusing to accept the invitation upset me.  而不能说成 Tom refusing to accept............

但作宾语时，用所有格或普通格都行。比如
I am annoyed about John/John's forgetting to pay.

还有，动名词的逻辑主语是“物”不是“人”，最好用普通格。
There is a necessity for this type of houses being built.

当动名词的逻辑主语是someone, anyone, everyone等不定代词时，最好用普通格。
He was awakened by someone knocking on door.

当动名词的逻辑主语由较长的一组词构成时，最好用普通格。

There is no point any one of us arguing with him.

所以，我们可以说，动名词的复合结构要用所有格形式还是普通形式，不但是逻辑主语本身构成有关系，还和动名词充当什么成分有关系。

关于介词后加句子，我有疑问~
首先 The book reminds me of what he has said. 中what he has said应该不是句子，而是名词词组，因为它不可能单独成为一个句子或者从句，如what he has said is interesting.，其后肯定有动词，既然有动词就证明它本来不是个句子。
而关于except that,后面可以加句子是因为有that,因为except做介词时后面只能接名词，但是语义上又要接一句话，所以先用that（that具有名词性质）代替本来的名词位置，再接上句子（其实这里和he said that...中的that有相同的作用，不局限于介词后）。但这道题中previous to when...中when引导的是状语从句，我觉得不能直接跟在介词后。。。应该在中间加个名词，比如说previous to the year when....

我是觉得你可能想复杂了，简单点看“介词+N”——就是个介宾结构对吧，“介词+从句”——你没发现都是宾语从句吗？宾从虽然是句子，但是其实就是个起N的作用的成分。所以这里是没有问题的。

只是理论上解释起来比较复杂，在实际使用时，用习惯了也就自然知道了。
