Ethics
Frederic Mishkin, professor of banking and financial institutions and former member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, is shown above participating in a research symposium, "Preventing the Next Financial Crisis," hosted by the Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. Center for Leadership & Ethics in 2008.

Professors aren't the only ones at Columbia shaping the future. Through a joint faculty-student group called the Leadership & Ethics Board, students have the opportunity to help develop curriculum content for core courses and electives offered through the center.

An Entrepreneurial Flavor
At Columbia Business School, entrepreneurial thinking is an essential and integrated part of the academic experience. In addition to Dean Hubbard's course on Entrepreneurial Finance each fall, students interested in launching their own ventures have access to specialized courses, workshops, funding opportunities, and a network of potential mentors and investors. Each fall, young entrepreneurs take part in the Venture Fair, which helps match students with experienced entrepreneurs and financiers who help them develop business proposals.

Activities range from formal conferences to long-standing traditions such as the Columbia Business School Follies, a student variety show that claims to enjoy "the longest run of any production of a professional school of business located between 110th and 120th streets in New York."

Graduation
The search for a new and improved career after leaving Columbia's gates is fruitful for most. Within three months of graduation, 95% have landed a job, and top recruiting firms include McKinsey, Goldman Sachs, and JPMorgan Chase. Columbia programs such as the job-search trips to Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, London, Washington, and Hong Kong help ensure that the influence of CBS grads spreads domestically and internationally. Their degrees promise Columbia MBAs a place in a worldwide alumni network
