Alumni Network
There are more than 5,600 Yale MBA alumni, who provide plenty of networking opportunities and connections. The school is proud of its alumni, who it says continue to embody the school's mission long after graduating. Notable alumni include Indra Nooyi, CEO of PepsiCo, and Laszlo Bock, vice-president of people operations at Google.

Classes Outside the SOM
Students in the MBA program aren't restricted to the School of Management—they can take classes for program credit in departments throughout the university. They can also pursue joint-degree programs, such as the dual MBA/JD with the Yale Law School and the MBA/MFA with the Yale School of Drama

Funding for Nonprofit Internships
The student-run Internship Fund holds the Internship Fund Auction to raise money for stipends for students taking summer internships in the nonprofit and public sectors. In 2009, the auction brought in $44,000, the second-highest total ever. Among top-sellers at the auction were a summer apartment rental in New York City and margaritas with Dean Sharon Oster.

Into the Workforce
Yale MBA graduates scatter far and wide at graduation. Thirty-six percent take jobs in financial services, while 22% go into consulting and 10% head into the nonprofit sector, with the remainder taking positions in energy, technology, manufacturing, consumer products, and other industries. Top recruiters—Bain & Co., General Electric, and Procter & Gamble, for instance—often make the quick trip from New York to New Haven to give presentations, host networking events, and take part in the "Meet the Firms" career fair, pictured here.

The Partners Club
Along with special interest, professional, and cultural clubs, Yale also has a School of Management Partners Club for students with families or partners. The group provides a social network and gives students information on employment, childcare, local schools, and the New Haven area. Student Clubs
Students can join more than 50 student-run clubs, including the Ski & Snowboard club, Women in Management, and the Latino Leadership Assn. Club events range from the Private Equity & Philanthropy Conferences to the Yale Cup soccer tournament (pictured here). The tournament is one of the country's largest business school sporting events.

Top-Notch Teaching
Yale School of Management faculty have impressive and varied backgrounds: They are hedge-fund founders, Pulitzer Prize nominees, best-selling authors, and former government leaders. Pictured here is a group of students working with Professor Roger Ibbotson in the Capital Market game during the "Investment Management" course. Ibbotson is the chairman and CIO of Zebra Capital Management.

Forty percent of the Yale program is based on case studies, with another 40% on lectures. The remaining 20% is divided evenly between experiential learning and team projects.

Learning from Industry Leaders
Electives give students a chance to interact directly with industry leaders. As part of "Wall Street and Washington," an elective course that examines the interactions between the two cities, students meet with senior financial officials in New York City. Students also take a week-long trip to Washington to meet with government leaders and regulatory authorities, including the Federal Reserve and the Securities & Exchange Commission.

Pro-Bono Consulting
The International Experience is not the only chance School of Management students have to study abroad. During the annual Global Social Enterprise pro-bono consulting trip, teams of students partner with social enterprises in emerging markets. In 2008, students travelled to Colombia to work with organizations in Bogotá. The school also has study-abroad exchange programs with the IESE Business School in Barcelona, the London School of Economics & Political Science, and other schools.

International Experience
Part of the core curriculum is the International Experience, which allows students to travel to foreign countries—such as Costa Rica, Japan, and Russia —to gain first-hand knowledge of the global economy.

The students pictured above visited Google during the 2009 China-India International Experience. All trips include visits with business, cultural, and political leaders. In the China program, for instance, students meet with executives from the Bank of China and China National Petroleum. And in South Africa, students make trips to the South African Breweries and JSE Securities Exchanges South Africa.
