A majority of the teachers seem to truly care about their students and want to know the students on a one-to-one basis. Some of the relationships I have with business teachers are unlike many of my relations with other teachers.

A strong commitment to ethics and social responsibility, small class sizes, and courses taught by knowledgeable professors who are passionate about the subject matter [make the program unique].

Notre Dame has an all-around great formula. It allows you to take all four business areas before choosing a major, excellent undergraduate business advising, tough classes but just the right amount of students. In four years at ND, I have never had a TA teach a business course. The university also puts a strong emphasis on ethics, teamwork, and other requirements such as non-business classes; it actively suggests that students take on a double major in a non-business subject, as I am doing with history.

All the classes build on one another. Ethics and doing the right thing are a major focus in all courses. The business school is part of the university community, instead of an MBA factory that doesn't offer the full benefits of the university experience.

All the professors try to make everything enjoyable and relatable for the students. Our professors also try to have as many group activities as possible, so we can gain personal confidence and understanding of others. It makes us grow in a unique way.

Being a Catholic academic institution, there is a very strong focus on business ethics and integrity in the class material, in the professor's attitude, and from the students as well. Everyone works hard and is very intelligent. Also, I feel like there is a strong sense of community and a focus on helping each other learn, as opposed to a more cut-throat student body. The business program at Notre Dame definitely allows one to get a well-rounded education in different subjects of academia, to develop social and professional skills, as well as a very strong knowledge of the student's chosen major.

You start your sophomore year taking general business courses - accounting, marketing, management, finance, IT, business law, etc. This helps you get a basic overview of each business concentration and is different from what I've heard many schools do. In my case, it allowed me to confirm my belief that I want to be in a finance concentration but also, through taking accounting I and II, I found an interest in the subject, and I am starting at one of the Big 4 after graduation and may soon try for a CPA.

Even though my annual salary will be substantially less than that of many of my peers in the my business program, it was a personal decision to enter the nonprofit industry. For that, I am more than willing to accept a lower salary. It is an industry I love and one the University of Notre Dame has prepared me for with the school's committment to service existing in all aspects.

We have some of the top professors and an outstanding career center. Big companies want Notre Dame kids.

I believe Mendoza makes a concerted effort to make sure that every graduate has solid business ethics before they enter the workplace. Also, the alumni are willing to bend over backward to help current students find jobs and internships.

I feel that my business school cares about me. Beyond my future career, Notre Dame cares about my growth as an individual. The business curriculum not only teaches me the dollars and cents of business but also how to conduct myself socially and ethically. The soft skills learned while here are invaluable assets.

I feel that the professors are of a very high quality, and not just as professors, but as individuals. They care about the material, they care about the students, and they will go out of their way to help students who ask for it. In addition to their classroom skills, many professors are people who I respect as individuals, and I have enjoyed quite a few conversations that have covered a wide variety of subjects, not merely limited to whatever subject that professor may teach. I also feel that the emphasis of ethics and social responsibility by the program as a whole helps to prepare me and my mindset for many of the challenges that professional life will be sure to throw at me.

I think our program's focus on the big picture is somewhat unique in business schools these days. Many schools seem to focus too much on the fundamentals and skill set aspect of a business degree. I feel that I have very strong fundamentals, but also the training to know what to use these skills for. I think many downturns are a result of being too narrow minded and focused on short-term goals. Our program has taught me how to be aware of the big picture at all times and this will only help me be more flexible in my career options. While I am pursuing a career in the actuarial field, I feel confident in my ability to pursue careers in many areas of finance if the opportunities were to present themselves.
