Career services provided for business majors:
The College of Business Undergraduate Career Center provides a full range of career services beginning in freshmen year. Career advisors instruct freshmen through a semester long First Year Experience course, introducing students to campus career preparation initiatives and familiarity with business professions. Students are assigned to a career advisor in freshman year and continue to meet with them through graduation and beyond. These advisors help students with career path planning, vocational assessment, information on job market trends, resume preparation, mock interviews, job and internship search strategies, salary negotiations, and internship credit . To ensure that our students are prepared to enter business professional environments, students attend a career preparation seminar, resume review, and a mock interview session. In addition, corporate partners and alumni provide career advice, resume critiques, and mock interviews. The Undergraduate Business Career Center partners with college departments and student professional organizations to host panel presentations and corporate information sessions. A Corporate Discovery Program provides an opportunity for students to visit local businesses. Alumni often host events providing lunch and a chance to network with business professionals. The opportunity to attend bi-monthly Executives’ Club of Chicago luncheons and breakfasts to assist in honing networking skills is available to business undergraduates through the career center. Career fairs and seminars are regularly held throughout the year offering students internship opportunities and information on permanent placement. The career center works directly with employers who post over 700 positions through the college’s NACElink site annually |
