Inter-Class Recreation
Taking a break takes many forms in the Peter W. May Student Lounge, which provides a casual space, complete with pool tables and flat-screen televisions, where students can relax, socialize, or grab a bite to eat. The adjacent Kovler Café is open until 10 p.m. on weekdays when classes are in session.
Recruiting
Career Services hosts events throughout the year to help students explore options and prepare for the next step in their careers. Career Networking Night, shown here, is where students talk informally with company representatives one-on-one. The event gives recruiters a chance to get to know the student behind the résumé.
And the typical student behind a Chicago Booth résumé is worth getting to know, from an employer's standpoint. About 95% of students have jobs after gaining their MBA. Top recruiters include Lehman Brothers, McKinsey & Company, and JPMorgan. The average salary of a Booth student shoots from $78,000 pre-MBA to $105,000 post-MBA.
Transglobal Campuses
Students often head to the Gleacher Center at Chicago Booth's downtown campus to take courses, attend conferences organized by alumni or student groups, and to study. Located in the center of the city's business district, Chicago Booth's downtown campus is right on the Chicago River and just off Michigan Avenue, nicknamed the "Magnificent Mile" for its upscale shopping. Additional Chicago Booth campuses are located in London and Singapore and are used for the executive MBA programs.
Hyde Park
Hyde Park was once the center of global attention when it was the site of fairgrounds for the 1892 Chicago World's Fair. Hyde Park is more modernly known as a residential neighborhood replete with bookstores, cafés, and architecture, but Chicago students can still experience 19th century resplendency with the Olympic-sized skating rink located on the Midway Plaisance, formerly a part of the fairgrounds.
Hyde Park lies just seven miles south of the Chicago Loop—the hub of the city—and public transportation makes it easy for students to travel quickly and cheaply between Hyde Park and the city.
Windy City Skyline
To those who call the Second City home, there's nothing secondary about it. Though Chicago's frigid weather challenges its residents every winter, the city is renowned for its museums, jazz clubs, baseball fields, vibrant ethnic communities, deep-dish pizza, and outdoor summer festivals like the Chicago Blues Festival. It's also a top U.S. city in which to conduct business.
