Q1: How are the professors/mentors assigned?

Q2: How many students are admitted by MSF of 09 fall?

Answer: ///

 

Q3: How is the current situation of employment?

Answer: At the moment things are pretty low in US and most companies are on hiring freeze - however that doesn't stop bright people from getting jobs - but it's a lot tougher

Clark students have been able to secure some jobs ... though the ratio has declined a bit compared to previous years ... but we have some well placed Alumni all over and they try very hard to place the GSOM students to their max.

 

Q4: Information about MBA and MSF dual degree

Answer: ///

 

Q5: How are on campus jobs for graduate students? Is there some criteria for applying to them and do we need to do so right away or after orientation.

Answer: campus jobs ... the official Grad assistanceship is offered to you in your offer letter depending on your application and profile ... 

For the other campus jobs- they are generally first come first served but for some specialized jobs such as IT services - prior experience may be an advantage.

Admissions will be able to guide you further on that

 

Q6: What is the percentage of grad students that work full-time jobs while attending Clark?

Answer: There aren't any full-time students who work full-time jobs while they are attending Clark, but we do have quite a few part-time students who are working full-time

It's completely up to you if you want to work full-time if you are not an international student, as a full-time student, you are required to take at least 3 classes a semester. Some people find that it's a bit tough to balance working full-time and doing school full-time

Q7: Sid, are you in master or ? When will you graduate from your program?

Answer: About me - I am in the MBA program and have 5+ work ex as an engineer. I will graduate in May 2010

 

Q8: I hope to know something about Housing. If i want to order a double room, what is the least period? a month or a term or a year?

Answer: We have on campus and off campus housing available...on campus is for the whole academic year.

Off campus is dependent on what you set up with you landlord (in regards to length od time living there)

 

Q9: I need to ask regarding the accommodations facilities at Clark for graduate students? On campus? Off Campus

Answer: We do have on campus housing for graduate students.

Q9: Will I need to fill out any forms for that?

 

Q10: If you are not offered assisntanceship at the time of admission then are they offered later or admission time offer is final.

Answer1: Awards are given at the time of admission and are not offered afterwards.

Answer2: It generally is difficult to get GA after you come here -but it's not unknown. 

 

Q11: Could you tell me the cost about living on campus?

Answer: please refer to our website to view all the costs

Q12: I know that this program is only last for one year, isn't it?

Answer: the MSF program is a year and a half

 

Q13: What is capstone experience mentioned in the MBA requirements?

Answer: Each student in the MBA program is required to take a capstone class in their last semester. The capstone is a class that is a culmination of all that you have learned in your previous coursework and usually requires a large research project.

Q13: @Ainsley. Okay, i see. Does it kinda like a required thesis?

Answer: Yes, it's a bit like a thesis, but it is an actual class. So you have class discussions and readings, but you also work on a project with the guidance of the professor. In many cases, you consult with local businesses or interact with CEOs of companies, or even start a business plan of your own

Answer: They are really interesting, I'm actually taking 2 capstones this semester, and we had a CEO come in to talk to us from a company that makes $8 billion a year - it was really cool!

Q13: @Ainsley, so great!!! Then what is professional internship? Is it arranged by school or found by myself?

Answer: The internships are required, and as a student, you work with Career Services to find placements for it. They are extremely helpful, but do require you to do some searching for yourself as well

Q13: And MBA program lasts for 2 years right?

Answer: Tuanzi, for most students, yes, it does last for two years. You form your own schedule each semester, so you can determine what course load you take on. If you choose to take about 4 units per semester, you will finish in 2 years

Q13: @Ainsley, so u mean that if i schedule more than 4 units per semester, i can finish the course right after i finish all required credits, i mean less than two years, maybe one and a half year??

Answer: Tuanzi, depending on how many courses you choose to take at a time, you can finish as soon as your course requirements have been completed

Q13: @Ainsley again, are there any cooperation program between the MBA program and some big companies in America? Like McKinsey

Answer: I am not completely sure about cooperatives, which would actually be a question for Lisa, the Director of Student Services

Answer: tuanzi, we have relationships with some large companies, but most of the organizations we work with are medium-sized companies. 

Q13: @Lisa, kkkk. So will the school recommend student to those companies to work as an intern?

Q15: Could you please advise if the MBA course is very intensive?

Answer: MBA course is intensive all right - but since you build your own courses every semester you can choose to balance the work load

 

Q16: Would you mind to tell me the weather of the city? How old it is?

Answer: the weather in Massachusetts is very interesting...be prepared to bring a warm winter jacket, winter boots, and gloves/mittens.

Answer: The spring is a bit rainy, and the summer can become really warm. So you'll need to pack a variety of clothes

 

Q17:  How many international students do you have for 09 fall semester?

Answer: ///

 

Q18: After filing for financial aid is there any additional paperwork that needs to be filled out?

Answer: ///

 

Q19: The weather is very cold there?

Answer: YES it's cold all right.

Answer: Yes we do get cold winters here

 

Q20: It is said that Clark is famous for small-size class. Is that true? Will we have small-size class too?

Answer: Clark does pride on relationship between students and faculty.

Answer: We do have small classes usually. The largest class I had consisted of 35 students. Your professors know you at a personal level which makes your academic experience much more valuable and you also get to learn a lot from your fellow students

Q21: Can u let me know if there are any Indian students for the MBA course in this fall term

Answer: we do have Indian students entering the MBA program this fall.

 

Q22: how many int'l students do you have

Q23: How does Clark MBA stand above other colleges in the area or around Boston?

Answer: ///

 

Q24: Excuse me, what about the security problems in and around Clark? I have heard that the safety and security are not so good there...

Answer: Worcester isn’t the safest places in the world- and it's advisable to take precautions ..... And Clark does offer foot and car escort to half-mile radius of Clark.

But the campus and the surrounding area is ok ... and I personally haven’t had any issues in safety around

 

Q25: What about the courses of MAF? Are they intensive?

Answer: ///

 

Q26: I wonder what kind of companies we would intern during the summer program?

Q28: Sid, how do you manage your housing?

Answer: Swilson ... I stay off campus with my family ...around 15 miles from here

Answer from Kanti: Swilson, you can either choose to live on campus or off-campus. On-Campus housing information is available at http://www.clarku.edu/offices/housing/options/graduate.cfm. Most graduate students however live off-campus. Some information on off-campus housing is available at http://www.clarku.edu/offices/housing/options/offcampus.cfm. I live off-campus and rent can range from anything between 300 and 700

Q28: well, you mean it is cheaper to live off-campus?

Answer: Yes it is cheaper to live off-campus.

Q28: What about the convenience?

Answer: SWILSON, if you as wondering if it is convenient to live on-campus versus off-campus, if you were to live on-campus, you do not need to worry about home maintenance, electricity, repairs etc. However, I live off-campus and I don't think it is inconvenient. I live very close to school (1 min walk from GSOM). SO it is not inconvenient

Q28: Thank you Kanti Can you tell me something about the style of the housing?

Answer: Swilson, students usually live in apartments which can range from 1 bedroom to 4 or 5 bedrooms.

Q28: Like live alone, or with one guy, or with many people?

Answer: You usually live with other Clark students.

Answer: You can choose to live alone or with other people. It becomes less expensive if you are living with other people and sharing expenses.

Q28: Thank you Kanti, is it hard to find a house?

Answer: SWILSON, everyone I know has found a place to live. You do have to spend some time searching; but you should be able to find something.

OTHER ANSWER:

1. Also regarding housing:  Please know that when you first arrive, we help you find someone to stay with right away (actually before you arrive!) so that you are comfortable while you are looking for an apartment off-campus, if that is what you decide to do.

2. Another housing tip:  It is always best to see the apartment in person yourself (not while you are still at home) before you make your decision.  And YES it is rather easy to find off campus housing. 

3. Regarding HOUSING:  It is rather easy to find off-campus housing, but we have much on-campus housing, and for the most part, if it more convenient.  If you want to more about it, you can always email the Student Services Office.

 

Q27: So, will you arrange our living before we find an apartment?

Answer: Not really ... you will need to arrange for your own housing if you are opting for off-campus one

 

Q28: Is it easy to find a house off-campus?

Answer: ///

 

Q29: If there are many good lectures by famous professor or entrepreneurs in GSOM?

Answer: We do have executive discussions several times a semester where business prof. come in and speak

 

Q30: Hi Kanti, I am wondering concerning my circumstance, is there still any available scholarship or assistantship? I have planned to take another Toefl Exam concerning the qualified score level.

Q31: It is easy to find off-campus housing?

Answer: Off campus housing is readily available, and affordable in Worcester.

Answer: We'll have a housing coordinator available to you during orientation

Q31: thanks Tani. how much for the rents?

Answer: Rents can range from $300 to $800 depending on location

Answer::  I work with students when they arrive--with the Housing Coordinator--and they usually find housing within the first few days; it doesn't take long.

 

Q32: can i ask about a question about Worcester city which Clark located in? what kind of Worcester city is in Massachusetts? is it the nice city that can helps international students get know about America?? and is it convenient to go to Boston from Worcester? THNX  a lot....
    Answer: Worcester is the second largest city in Mass after Boston and is just an hr away from it .. Well it's proximity to Boston and New York makes it a good place to be in and is well connected to both places

Q33: I realize a note on the admission form states that we can differ the enrollment to 2010 autumn. Is there any prerequest?

Answer: ///

 

Q34: Will the college arrange our summer internship or students need to find by ourselves?

Answer: ///

 

Q35: Do we need to find a off-campus house right away?

Answer: you will want to start looking into housing in the summer if you are arrviving in the fall.

 

Q36: I've got a question regarding the intern and graduate job. As the program lasts for only 1.5years, how do you arrange ur time to search for internship and graduate job as well ?

Answer: We have many internship employers who come to Clark for students each year and we do as much recruiting for internships as we can.  In the end, the student finds their own internship whether from the group we find, or on their own. 

Q36: Thanks, Lisa. Is there any possible that students can not find the internship, especially under current economic situation? What if one would fail to find one, will they fail to graduate?

Answer: All students are able to fulfill the internship requirement.  If they don't do an internship, we have another project they complete.
