关于although的用法求助

OG 13 SC 74题正确选项D：
D.Although it covers the entire planet, Earth's crust is neither seamless nor stationary, but rather fragmented into mobile semirigid plates.

E. Although covering the entire planet, Earth has a crust that is not seamless or stationary, but fragmented into mobile semirigid plates.
看了OG 13 SC 74题D选项和E选项中解释的lthough的错误用法：
although is a conjunction and should be followed by a finite clause
although should be followed by a finite clause with a subject
想请问各位大牛，什么叫做finite clause,是限制性从句吗？
另外还想请教一下，although后面一定要跟完整的句子吗？还是说可以although + ving/ ved/adjective呢？

基本上finite clause是单独拿出来可以独立成句的从句，所以although + ving/ ved/adjective是不行的

所以although+ving这个点我觉得不能是死记硬背来排除的
although+ving这个形式是没有错的

但是看到省略的形式一定要马上去考虑逻辑主语

E选项逻辑主语是Earth，Earth不能去cover整个行星，只有尘埃才可以，这里是句意的分歧点（所以E就被排除了）
在这类although+ving所谓的状语从句省略上，我个人觉得OG的解释过于敷衍，与我们学习的语法知识有所出入吧，或者说排除得过于简单（仅仅因为idiom或相近的缘故）
考虑逻辑主语似乎是一种更有自信的做题方法

GMAT的语法是很奇怪，有的时候为了不产生歧义把好多正常的语法规则都禁止了，正常来说共用主语的情况是可以省的，不过我想不起来在GMAT里那次although + ving是对的. 另外很同意你说的“考虑逻辑主语似乎是一种更有自信的做题方法”

我记得有一题是although+ving作为正确选项的，一时半会想不起来了


prep07 28题就把although +VED作为了正确选项，是考察的划线部分！


其他两个例子都是未划线部分


GMAT SC没必要搬石头砸自己脚


所以还是觉得OG的解释有点欠妥当

同意楼上的说法，我也是这题对although有疑问，的确在OG有的题目中although后是可以加分词的。所以不能一棍子打死，认为although后只能加完整句子。
