Since I am now a Tier 2 Admission Consultant, I had some authority and credibility and will now rank the MBA rankings. Also, I am sick of seeing the Chicago study of portfolio managers being reposted so I am looking for an excuse to discourage it. I also want to rank the CEO rankings lower because it makes me kind of yawn because nothing it says is that surprising.
1. US News- They started the whole rankings craze so they get pioneer credibility. They also have a somewhat scientific methodology
2. FT Times- Give them credit for being the only international ranking and have a decent methodology
3. Economist- I have no idea what their ranking is but I like their magazine. It makes me feel smart when I read it.
4. BW- They have the most hype around their ranking and most anticipation but mainly using student surveys is kind of dumb.
5. Wall Street Journal- Somehow I think that recruiters rank schools based on how much they like the hotel rooms, restaurants, night life, and strip clubs in the city where the school is located. I included strip clubs because that's the only reason I can think of for why CMU gets ranked so high
6. CEO rankings- Okay, you guys pretty much think the same as everyone else
7. Popular Farm Vehicles and Implements- Mainly judges school by how much manure they can turn out.
100. That frickin' Portfolio Manager survey. Give it a frickin' rest. I could produce a similar survey that shows the state of Virginia has produced the most US presidents so therefore Virginia is the best state but, oh I'm only counting pre-1850. |
