我的理解正好相反lifted their depression应该是指会减少depression 吧，把depression提起来不就是减少吗？

《The Mwrriam Webster Dictionary》解释Lift:

(1) raise,elevate

(2) to put an end to

(3) to pay off

看来本题中的Lift作put an end解。其它解释放入题中不通。另外根据字典，raise也有end的意思。
