Course Options
At Goizueta, we recognize you as an individual, which is why we offer our students a variety of options to tailor coursework to fit their unique career goals. Because of our intimate, educational community, classes are small and faculty and students work closely. This also means we can be flexible, giving you the opportunity to design a course of study to best suit you. Each concentration encompasses a range of core classes and electives, and students have the opportunity to further customize their coursework through directed studies with faculty to courses with other Emory institutions to study abroad opportunities.
Concentrations & Electives
In response to the dynamic business world, Goizueta offers 23 different concentrations – within six academic areas – in both established and emerging topics. Electives provide students the opportunity to pursue specific areas of study beneficial to a particular career.
One-Year MBA students will choose 10 electives during their program. Two-Year MBA students will select 13 electives during their program, including four prior to the summer internship, therefore maximizing the return from the internship experience. Depending on the course of study, you may choose Goizueta electives or approved electives from other schools with Emory or partner institutions.

Directed Study
Because Goizueta is an intimate learning community, you can work closely with faculty, and customize your MBA to fit your goals. If you have a specific interest in a topic that isn’t taught in one of your courses, you can create your own course under the Directed Study option. You develop your idea for a directed study, propose the project, and partner with a faculty member to complete your work.
Through the directed study option, you work collaboratively with experienced faculty and learn how to transform abstract theoretical questions into workable projects, publishable in major journals. Through this interaction, you learn the research norms and values that will guide you through today’s global business landscape.
Directed Study gives you the freedom to tailor your learning experience to your goals.
