答案是A，我的疑问是：C和D用were in doubt 以及were doubtful确实不如A选项动词doubted直接，但是C和D是不是和题干中的were uncertain as to the location of Troy更加平行吗？当这种情况出现时，作如何取舍呢？

我也是有同样疑问,我当时选的C, doubt as to the existence,形式对称,而且location和existence对称...

动词优先和平行的优选问题??

我觉得是因为这里并不是引发了平行结构吧？从题目上看也没有并列的意思.

平行对称结构考察的是比较对象平行、含义平行或者形式平行

但是在这题里面并不是考词组形式的平行

我觉得更像考察时态的题型

而且无论如何都要选择动词形式，因为动词优于形容词，优于抽象名词

不知道我的解释是否正确：）

为了满足一定形式的平行，从而使用非常awkward的表达，我觉得是不妥当的

我认为C选项中使用doubt的名词形式使句子意思发生偏离，
in doubt的意思是不肯定，受质疑。
如：
The outcome of the election remains in doubt. 选举的结果仍然不确定。

所以C项就变成Historians不确定，而非the existence of Troy。与本题原意

不符。
我的一点看法，不对之处请nn指出。

我觉得没有必要刻意去追求句式的平行。

句式平行的目的是为了句子能够更加对称，不是为了美是为了更加清晰易懂，更有条理，这道题为了平行doubt变成be in doubt ; existed变成existence有点刻意去追求平行，因为A选项真的很清楚明了了
