AWA107. The most effective way for managers to assign work is to divide complex tasks into their simpler component parts. This way, each worker completes a small portion of the task but contributes to the whole.

12. The following appeared as part of a promotional campaign to sell advertising space in the Daily Gazette to grocery stores in the Marston area.

Advertising the reduced price of selected grocery items in the Daily Gazette will help you increase your sales. Consider the results of a study conducted last month. Thirty sale items from a store in downtown Marston were advertised in the Gazette for four days. Each time one or more of the 30 items was purchased, clerks asked whether the shopper had read the ad. Two-thirds of the 200 shoppers asked answered in the affirmative. Furthermore, more than half the customers who answered in the affirmative spent over $100 at the store.

Discuss how well reasoned... etc.

I+II=?

 +____X___Y___Z___

A                   II

B                            III

C

                                        A                               B

                              Hourly  Salaries         Hourly  Salaries

Number                 5xxxxx    2xxxxx            yyyyy   zzzz

Percentage            a                b                  c        d     (a+b=100%, c+d=100%)

要求A, BCOMBINED WORKFORCE SALARIES比率。

(Hourly

GWD-1-Q3:

A product that represents a clear technological advance over competing products can generally command a high price. Because technological advances tend to be quickly surpassed and companies want to make large profits while they still can, many companies charge the greatest price the market will bear when they have such a product.  But large profits on the mew product will give competitors a strong incentive to quickly match the mew products capabilities.  Consequently, the strategy to maximize overall profit from a new product is to charge less than the greatest possible price.

In the argument above, the two portions in boldface play which of the following roles?

  1. The first is an assumption that forms the basis for a course of action that the argument criticizes; the second presents the course of action endorsed by the argument.

  2. The first is a consideration raised to explain the appeal of a certain strategy; the second is a consideration raised to call into question the wisdom of adopting that strategy.

  3. The first is an assumption that has been used to justify a certain strategy; the second is a consideration that is used to cast doubt on that assumption.

  4. The first is a consideration raised in support of a strategy the argument endorses; the second presents grounds in support of that consideration.

  5. The first is a consideration raised to show that adopting a certain strategy is unlikely to achieve the intended effect; the second is presented to explain the appeal of that strategy.[D]*B

A product that represents a clear technological advance over competing products can generally command a high price. Because technological advances tend to be quickly surpassed

and companies want to make large profits while they still can, many companies charge the greatest price the market will bear when they have such a product.  But large profits on the mew product will give competitors a strong incentive to quickly match the mew product
s capabilities.  Consequently, the strategy to maximize overall profit from a new product is to charge less than the greatest possible price.

In 2000, a mere two dozen products accounted for half the increase in spending on prescription drugs, a phenomenon that is explained not just because of more expensive drugs but by the fact that doctors are writing many more prescriptions for higher-cost drugs.

A.      a phenomenon that is explained not just because of more expensive drugs but by the fact that doctors are writing

B.       a phenomenon that is explained not just by the fact that drugs are becoming more expensive but also by the fact that doctors are writing

C.       a phenomenon occurring not just because of drugs that are becoming more expensive but because of doctors having also written

D.      which occurred not just because drugs are becoming more expensive but doctors are also writing

E.       which occurred not just because of more expensive drugs but because doctors have also written
