Eligibility
What does it take to be admitted to Olin's MACC Program?
We review each applicant on a number of factors, looking for individuals with strong academic, professional and extracurricular activities. We base our selections on your past performance, quantitative skills and communication skills. To ensure diversity in each entering class, we admit students with various backgrounds, experiences, talents and interests.
If you are applying from another college or university, you must have completed an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution (comparable to Washington University's four-year bachelor's degree) by the time you would begin the MACC program.
While there are no specific accounting course prerequisites for admission to the MACC program, most applicants will have completed Principles of Financial Accounting, Principles of Managerial Accounting and perhaps other more advanced accounting courses prior to entering their MACC studies. Students who have not previously taken accounting course work would be required to come to Washington University in August to take preliminary course work prior to the start of the regular academic year. These preliminary courses are in addition to the 33 hours of graduate-level course work required for the MACC degree. Included in these preliminary courses are Accounting 560, Introduction to Financial Accounting and Accounting 562, Intermediate Financial Accounting.
If you’re a Washington University undergraduate interested in the four semester format, you must have completed at least 60 semester hours prior to beginning the MACC program. Ideally, you would have completed accounting course work through Intermediate Financial Accounting (ACCT 3610-3620.) |
