This area of study is a good option for candidates with significant and targeted work experience or those who work in family businesses. strategic planning; financial analysis/ corporate finance; and consulting.
This area of study prepares MBAs for a number of opportunities in corporations of financial institutions depending on elective courses. Those interested in the Chartered Financial Analyst(CFA) designation pursue the finance path as part of their preparation for the CFA exam.
5. Human Resources/ Organization Management: Industrial/ labor Relations; Staffing and training; Compensation and benefits; change management; and consulting.
While Human Resources is considered a core business function, Organization Management is a broad and strategic area better suited to candidates with significant work experience or those who have a dual concentration with a core business function.
6. Information Technology/ Management Information Systems: Systems Analysis; Systems consulting; telecommunications; and electronic commerce.
This area of study is for candidates planning careers in high-tech functions or industries and is often coupled with other concentrations.
7. Marketing: Product/ brand management; market research; sales management, advertising; communications; public relations; and consulting.
This area of study prepares MBAs for a number of specialties depending on choice of elective courses.
8. Operations/ production management: Manufacturing and production management; business process reengineering; management of service operations; product development; and consulting.
This area of study prepares MBAs for several specialties depending on choice of elective courses. Very often MBAs in the operations area have technical , quantitative, or engineering backgrounds.
9. Specialized studies: Healthcare; entertainment; environmental; international; Not-for-profit; public administration/ government; Real estate; and others.
These courses of study are generally industry-specific. The specialized study concentration allows MBAs to gain entrance into specific industries either directly or through trade associations or specialized industry consulting. |
