Recently there is a debate over whether the rise of multinational corporation is leading to global homogeneity. Different people hold different views from their distinct aspects. Some people assert that multinational corporation plays an important role in bringing out global homogeneity, while other claim that not the rise of multinational corporation, but rather other factors such as mass media and internet, cause the global homogeneity. As a matter of fact, the issue of whether the rise of multinational corporation is leading to global homogeneity is a complex and controversial one, thus, actually the final judgment should rely on a case-by-case analysis. As far as I am concerned, I believe that the international corporation is playing increasingly important role in global homogeneity. My view can be greatly confirmed by the following discussion.
In the first place, the important reason that can be presented to develop my position is that the proliferation of multinational corporation in the developing and developed countries facilitates the production and distribution of standardized products. To illustrate this point, we can see the example that is very persuasive. Microsoft, the giant of software world, creates several softwares each year. In every corner of the world, we can see that the people will use the computers equipped with Window 2002, 2003 or other software products of Microsoft, no matter where they are. In this case, it is obvious that the standardized software products of Microsoft that dominate the world have caused the trend of global homogeneity.
In addition, there is another reason for me to choose this statement. The standardized services of multinational corporation will result in the global homogeneity. The most famous example of the standardized services is Kenducky, one of the biggest fast-food chain. When you enter the Kenducky in the United States, in China or in other parts of the world, you can not only enjoy the delicious fried chicken, but also enjoy the kind and help yourself service. Therefore, this help yourself service is the symbol of this biggest fast-food chain, thus bringing out the global homogeneity.
Finally, the advent of internet and mass media promotes the cultural ethics of the multinational corporation, thus promoting to global homogeneity. Thanks to the development of the high-technology, we can browse the website of multinational corporation, thus learning out the cultural ethics of the multinational corporation. In addition, we can sit at home while watching TV, experiencing the rich cultural ethics of the multinational corporation. For example, even in China, we can sit at home and watch “Economic Forum” in which the CEO of Nokia is introducing the cultural ethics of his own company. Therefore, the commonly-used internet and mass media will introduce the cultural ethics of the multinational corporation, thus resulting in the global homogeneity.
As I mentioned above, one the hand, the standardized products brought from the multinational corporation contribute to global similarity. On the other hand, the standardized services of multinational corporation will cause the global homogeneity. In addition, the cultural ethics of the multinational corporation promotes the global homogeneity. Therefore, we can safely arrive at the conclusion that the rise of multinational corporation will contribute to global homogeneity. |
