* if you have just a noun - WITHOUT modifiers - in the second half of your parallel structure, then you can place the helping verb ("do", in this case) EITHER before OR after that noun.
ex:
i know more about shakespeare than my brother does. --> correct
i know more about shakespeare than does my brother. --> correct
in this case, the first one (helping verb AFTER the noun) is usually preferred, because it flows more naturally, but either is correct.

* if you have a noun followed by modifier(s) in the second half of your parallel structure, then you MUST place the helping verb BEFORE the noun.
ex:
i know more about shakespeare than my brother, who has never studied literature, does. --> WRONG
i know more about shakespeare than does my brother, who has never studied literature,. --> correct

in this problem, "branches" is followed by a modifier ("from trees"), so you MUST place "do" before it.

14比较结构
14.1as be the case (with)是常用的比较结构，是as the case be的倒装，有很多的错误形式用来混淆答案
14.2as与like都可以作比较，但是却别在哪儿呢？
当as与like放在句子中间表示对比的时候：由于like后面只跟名词，用like的话，可能（当前后有两套主谓时，不论是从句或是平行）会导致无法区别是与句子的前半截比较还收后半截比较；这时候选择用as的话，由于在as后面可以补出主谓结构，可以根据谓语区别到底是在跟前半截比还是后半截比较

例：Because young children do not organize their attention or perceptions systematically, like adults, they may notice and remember details that their elders ignore.

(A) like adults(B) unlike an adult(C) as adults(D) as adults do(E) as an adult

这时候A项就产生了无法确定的局面，而D项由于补出了do，就可以知道是与前半截do not进行了比较，若补出的是as adults may not，则可以知道是与后半截比较

14.3not so much that…as that…与其说…不如说…

14.4主谓宾成分具全的比较句，有两种情况：1）宾语的比较；2）主语的比较。在GMAT考试当中，如果遇到主语比较的情况，一般要求第二个句子补出系动词或助动词，以避免歧义。

如：I eat apple faster than you do.该句为主语之间的比较，句子中的do是不可以省略的。因为如果去掉do，则形成宾语比较句，apple和you进行比较，产生我吃苹果比吃你快的逻辑错误。

但是在只有主谓，没有宾语的句子中，由于没有宾语，所以不会产生上述歧义，所以不需要补充系动词/助动词。如：I earn more than you.不需要补充do。如果补充了do，反而会构成罗嗦的错误。

判断What从句充当比较对象之一是否正确，我们需要判断what指代的对象有没有把比较的范围扩大化。比如在此题中，由于what professionals are paid的内容可以包括除薪酬以外的其他报酬，所以what把比较对象扩大了，故不正确。类似题目可参考本书的P1-50：what boys experience的范围远远大于the patterns of stress，故P1-50题的B选项不正确。

我知道D对，只是想知道D中的are要放在哪里，前面后面都对？
的确是阅读过程中发现，有一些than倒装，有一些不倒装，困惑ing，求解~~~~
prep07的part1 和 part2我刚才都翻了一下，第一题都不是讲这个的呀，不过没关系，prep我这两天都会过一遍，应该能偶遇上吧

应该是倒装，但是我不确定
不过可以明确地告诉你，D选项如果把do改成are肯定是正确的，prep语法笔记还是OG上（对不起，确实忘了）对于D的解释大意是“do不能够指代be从而完成比较的对等关系”，而实际做题的时候也有不倒装的句子。关于比较结构，建议你看看prep07的语法笔记，我记得第一题就是比较结构，并且在后面的答案分析里面非常详细地讲解了比较结构的平行与省略原则
