答案是E没有问题，但我不理解，为什么D错，看了就得prep解释为lag far behind 与less重复，我不明白破折号外的跟破折号里的为什么会算作语义重复，忘牛牛指点，感激不尽。

谢谢楼上的回答，我就从平行考虑吧，nearly $8,000 a year at the start of their careers, and by almost $24,000对于D，8000没有less那么24000也不能有less
