GWD逻辑一题求教

GWD-9-Q24:

For similar cars and drivers, automobile insurance forcollision damage has always cost more in Greatport than in Fairmont. Police studies, however, show thatcars owned by Greatport residents are, on average, slightly less likely to beinvolved in a collision than cars in Fairmont.Clearly, therefore, insurance companies are making a greater profit oncollision-damage insurance in Greatport than in Fairmont.

Which of the following is an assumption on which theargument depends?

A.   Repairing typical collision damage does notcost more in Greatport than in Fairmont.

B.   There are no more motorists in Greatportthan in Fairmont.

C.   Greatport residents who have been in a collisionare more likely to report it to their insurance company than Fairmont residents are.

D.   Fairmont andGreatport are the cities with the highest collision-damage insurance rates.

E.    The insurance companies were already awareof the difference in the likelihood of collisions before the publication of thepolice reports.

Conclusion: insurance companies are making a greater profit

oncollision-damage insurance in Greatport than in Fairmont.

Profit=Income-Cost
for A, if Repairing typical collision damage cost more in Greatport

than in Fairmont, although the insurance income in G is more than

that in F, then the profit will be indefinite. In the other word,

this is an necessary assumption CR, when we negate A, then the

conclusion will fall apart. So A is the correct answer
