我的理解 for the balance 是相对于pharmaceuticals division  的 accounted for roughly 20

percent of dollar sales and 40 percent of profits 

收入和利润是平衡的··

我的理解是：
PD占销售额的20% 却创造了40%的利润
而C D for the balance 意思也许是 三年中每年保持不变，或者指所销售和得到利润百分比一样，类似销售占10%，利润也占10%。 总之就是没什么变化

 the chemicals division for the balance 我的理解是，  Chemical division 的sales 和 Profit 分别是除了PD部门之外剩下来的比率，也就是说CD的sales占公司的80%，Profit却占公司的60%。

我觉得这个应该是化学药品部门，后面的pharmaceuticals，这个应该是医学药品部

门，总归是一个公司两个部门，他们创收的效益以及销售额度，公司作为一个整体来看

待，其中再分别给出数据.

 A company’s two divisions ,PD 和CD应该是形成配比，在题目的解释中也可以看出来，我想for balance的意思是不是总共的profit共100%，cd应该是占剩下60%的profit的意思，呵呵。

应该不是，从该题的解释可以看出来。我也不明白是什么意思
