My answer: 15,000
Reason: according to the question,
p*交r*=5,000   (1)
p*并r*=2p*      (2)
r*=2p*                 (3)
因为p*并r*= p*+r*-p*交r*
          即2p*=p*+2p*-5,000
so p*=5,000
p*+r*=15,000

我的思路对吗？

我的做法和答案：
P=P1+P2  R=R1+R2
5000=P1/R1               说明，BOTH R AND P，我认为是交集，所以属于相同部分
5000=2*P2--》P2=2500        THE NUMBER ONLY OF P，我认为指的是只属于P而不属于交集部分
---》P=7500
R=2*P=15000---》P+R=17500

we can get:

5000= 2y
(x+5000)=2(5000+y)

answer = x+y+5000= 17500

我终于明白你的了。先抛开我的，去他的。
both r* and p* 我认为是并集，即同属于R与P。5000=2倍的单纯P。因此P的总数应该等于5000+2500=7500

惨了，你的我也没看懂，啥“so all P=5000+2500=7500”

我觉得“The number belonging to both r* and p* is 5000”是说r*&*的交集是5000，就是我上边说的（1）式，“the number of both r* and p* is twice the number of only p*”是说r*&*的并集是p*集合的两倍，就是我上边说的（2）式。

你的运算符号太多，我没看明白。我的算法：
only p*=5000/2=2500. so all P=5000+2500=7500. r=2*p=15000, so r+p=15000+2500=17500.
