怎么选校— Sciece and engineering 背景

背景:

Engineering  and science 背景, 半导体物理， 国内一流大学本科，美国二流大学博士，美国一个国家实验室guest researcher, 现在是第三年，学术上还可以，文章发得也还不错，有几个IEEE的awards， 也可以回国找到个不错大学的教职，但是始终感觉一辈子只做这么一件事有点觉得可惜. 自己感觉性格上开朗，自信，communication and organizing skills 不错。觉得在回国之前应该尝试一个MBA, 得到一些general management的训练，将来除了在 academia 的环境中还能有除了学术上的成就，或者在大的半导体公司担当R&D management类似的职位。

想到就做, 上个月花了几个礼拜准备并考了GMAT, 770,这个成绩让我很是沾沾自喜了一段时间 (在家里的地位也提高了很多)。

托福99年考的653。在美国生活了8年，希望大部分的学校能够waive掉toefl. 不知道是不是大部分的学校能够waive掉还是要打电话一个个确认.

Phd的老板和现在的老板同意写推荐信。

现在准备申请资料。

关于选校希望nn们能有些建议，或者有类似背景的人能够互相交流一下。谢谢。

I think you need to narrow your goals a bit. Saying that you want to run

both a college and an R&D department for a semi-conductor company is a

leap. I realize they are both mgmt, but there are a lot of differences

between those enterprises. Choose one for purposes of your application.

Your academic stats are outstanding and given your goals your work

experience is appropriate too. Consider Haas, Stanford, MIT, CMU, Tuck,

and Michigan.

 楼上为什么觉得推荐信弱呢？两个人都是我的直接老板，一个是博士期间的，

一个是现在工作上的。

别人我也想过，现在的同事什么的，但是还是觉得老板写好一些。。。。

从分数和学术背景来讲，我觉得是还可以，但是缺点是没有商业的工作背景，没

有领导过人的经历.........现在正在想怎么样写自己的story, 突出自己的

potential and how MBA would prepare me for my long term goal...

楼上你提的这几个学校我看都是工程方面很强的学校，是不是因为这个原因你觉得

比较适合于我？

基本上wharton, chicago, columbia, nyu 这样的学校我就不准备申请了，太注重

金融什么的了。

对harvard, darden的case study比较感兴趣，但又听说这种学校学习压力挺大的。

Consider Standford, UC berkley, or MIT You background is very good.
