Choice D and E wrongly use a phrase introduced by "now with" to modify Thy gyrfalcon. In both choices, the phrase confusingly seems to parallel "with extinction"; a new clause with a present tense verb is needed to state what the gyrfalcon's numbers are now.

楼主的那道题，with无论作为独立主格还是伴随状语都是严重的逻辑错误！~

不同意楼上的说法。如果按ls的解释的话那下面这题就不对了

我认为这道题的with结构是独立主格的with复合结构
它的构成是：“with ＋ 宾语 ＋ 宾语补足语”。宾语由代词、名词、名词词组充当，宾补由分词、不定式、形容词、副词、介词短语、名词等充当。
例：He used to sleep, with the door open. 他过去常开着门睡觉。（形容词）
例: With the work done，he went home. （过去分词）
就with这个单独的结构而言并没有问题

E之所以错在于：
1）now用来修饰整个with的独立主格结构，with结构内部的比较－numbers和when...相比－就不对等，而A的比较是很清楚的
2）单独的numbers语义上来体会也不是很明确，A选项its numbers在语义上就比E清楚得多

E逻辑意思出错了，无论是The gyrfalcon还是extinction作为with numbers five times greater than 的逻辑主语都是错误的。

例如：The gyrfalcon with numbers five times greater than ...这样表达合乎逻辑意思吗？

我的看法是E独立主格内部的比较不是很清楚

要么是numbers和numbers比较，要么now和when...比较，比较对象要对等。E在这

一点上不是很清楚，而A没有什么问题，比较也很清楚。这种情况下选A
