not only。。。but (also)  这是正确的词组表达方式.
also 可以省略, 但是 but 不行.  以前高中课文里也有强调.

 谢谢楼上，OG那道题确实回避了单单省略also的情况。
OG的解释是：use not only without but also is incorrect.
现在看来出现but就够了。
