→参考观点+Prep Notes补充：感谢nowwsy 720(宣传你下)的帮助，我一眼看去觉得这么眼熟，原来是Prep！通过both and的不平行问题，可直接排除其他四个选项。A中but also未有与之对应的not only，B中it指代有问题，逻辑上指代1998，但是形式上却指代new ventures矛盾。C中with改变句子重心，同时had begun也没有与之呼应的时间词汇，没有必要。E中for … to … 结构不如when直接引导从句清晰。

→参考观点：responding的主语为人，故排除A+B，D的for doing不如to do简洁，E改主干，C虽然看上去别扭，但是实际上是likely前置带来的阅读困难，放回去则成了“how a particular asteroid and comet will be likely to …”就舒服多啦。
