(1) Two adjacent faces of the solid have areas 15 and 24, repectively.
(2) Each of two opposite faces of the solid has area 40.
答案最后选择C，但是我没有看懂解答中对于 Each of the two opposite faces 的解释，在我看来，应该是该长方体每两个相对面的面积均为40，而解答中是表示只有两个相对面的面积为40，可是这里的each该如何解释呢，请各位G友帮帮忙啦。

A closed cylindrical tank contains 36π cubic feet of water and is filled to half its capacity. When the tank is placed upright on its circular base on level ground, the height of the water in the tank is 2 feet. When the tank is placed on its side on level ground, what is the height in feet, of the surface of the water above the ground.
答案是3，我在看最后解答的时候，不太明白为什么在只有一半体积也就是36π 的算式中带入高度时带入的是整个容器的高度4英尺而不是2英尺，如果是带入2 的话，那么这道题就没有正确答案了，但是如果带入4，答案很容易算出是选择3。我自己认为这道题目的条件给错了，不知道各位有什么看法，麻烦帮忙解答一下疑惑啦，谢谢啦！！

A of B of C结构：B修饰C；A修饰B
所以第一层结构是：长方体的某两个对立面。
第二层结构是：每一个对立面。

所以我觉得，意思应该是：长方体某一对对立面，其中每一个面积=40.

我在google上查来查去，总结下来是这样的：

contain的解释：

1、To have within; hold.

如果是这个解释，一般后面只跟笼统的一种事物，比如： "The jar

carries wine"; "The canteen holds fresh water"; "This can

contains water"

2、To be capable of holding.

这个含义是“容量”，是能装多少东西的一个能力。所以是一个容器的最

大值。
比如： this contains five pints 后面跟的不是容器中的事物，而是计

量单位。

所以我的总结是：
A contains B
B如果是溶液water/wine/juice，则contain=hold
B如果是计量单位pints/cube feet/gallon，则contain=be capable of

holding

那么A of B结构的中心词，是A，也就是说36 cube feet of water。其重

心是cube feet而非water，所以第一句话A closed cylindrical tank

contains 36π cubic feet of water and is filled to half its

capacity.的意思是：
圆桶的容积是36立方英尺 and 现在只装满了其中的一半。

所以等式其实是
18 pie = pie * R^2 * 2
