按照og其他题的解释，使用is是因为这是一种general statement.  fungus is an interworn filigree of mushrooms 就是一种所谓的常识。

還有 為什麽原文裏面的a giant fungus that is an ... 要用is的?

OG的解释是 extending 表示一直延续到现在的动作，不是一次性的动作
前面spawn是一次性的，后面extend一直在延续

两修饰成分并列：原句可以还原：

ps.看到and就想平行。但要注意是和什么平行。
gmat中有很多分词直接做修饰的成分出现，例如这题。一开始很容易搞不清这是什么句子成分，多做多总结就好了。
