【求助】OG11 verbal 第1题，第一题

第四遍做OG了，之前三遍这道题都做对了，感觉第四遍对语法点更加游刃有余但在这道题上却错了，仔细想想应该是前三遍知其然不知其所以然造成的，搜了坛子里的帖子，没有相关的问答，OG10和OG11的对照在这道题上也有偏差只好单独拿出来提问了
       Some bat caves, like honeybee hives, have residents that take on different duties such as defending the entrance, acting as sentinels and to sound a warning at the approach of danger, and scouting outside the cave for new food and roosting sites.
       (A) acting as sentinels and to sound
       (B) acting as sentinels and sounding
       (C) to act as sentinels and sound
       (D) to act as sentinels and to sound
       (E) to act as a sentinel sounding
正确答案是B，OG11的解释是 This sentence has sounding, which properly parallels defending, acting, and scouting.
在这里有个问题，平行结构各元素之间应该是逗号分隔，只有最后两个元素之间用and连接，一般出现两个and总是大平行套小平行的结构，这个原则基本上在OG里面得到了充分的印证，但在这里，两个and却连接四个同级别的平行实在是让人匪夷所思，所以当时我想也没想就选择了D，意思就是大平行套小平行defenging与scouting用and连接是高级平行，to act和to sound用and连接时低级平行，低级平行修饰defending做目的，虽然有点牵强，但肯定比一个平行结构中出现两个and好吧，希望牛牛能够赐教，谢谢

题外话，你在攻OG11？为什么不是OG12呢？
因为在acting as sentinels and sounding a warning at the approcah of

danger，里面sounding是sentinels发出的的动作，acting...and sounding...，

逻辑上有先后因果次序，与其他的举例其实并不在一个层次，但是因为用and

连接所以要用sounding形式。妄自揣测，acting as sentinels to sound a

warning应该也是对的。

我准备GMAT已经N年了，只是最近才全职准备，所以一直用OG11呵呵

我明白sounding是sentinels发出的的动作，我主要是对这个结构不解，这个结构是A, B and C, and D，解释是这四个元素平行，但一般四个元素平行应该是A, B, C and D这样的结构，而A, B and C, and D这样的结构一般不会是四个元素处于同一个层次上面，而是有多个平行套用导致的

不知道OG12有没有这道题？有没有新的解释？
