答案是D, 但我想请教大家为什么DOUBLE不是DOUBLES, 跟主语（A NUMBER）20736对应。难道主语是FEMALE MINSTERS？不会啊，这样不符合CLAUSE的语义啊。

并且OG说C错的原因是WORDY, AWKARD，但我觉得挺精简的啊，是不是我太没预感了。哎。。。

你给的解释都是不正确的：
1 double这里不是adjective, 是determiner
2 不选what it was不是因为它不简洁，是因为it没有antecedent

OG给的解释是：What it was is awkward, wordy and unclear.
关键词就是unclear, 所谓unclear就是说it没有antecedent, 指代不明确。

我觉得double这里不是形容词。
我赞同it没有指代。我觉得C若是去掉it，应该是正确的。
