求教PREP08一题

denoma, a major consumer electronics maker, had a sizable decline in sales revenue for its most recent fiscal year. this result appears surprising, because electronics retailers report that although their overall sales were considerably lower than in the previous year, their sales revenue from denoma models actually grew, largely thanks to some innovative and models that denoma introduced.

a. because of the need to educate the public about its new model's capabilities, denoma's advertising spending was higher than normal over the period.
b. for the period at issue, denoma's major competitors reported declines in revenue that were, in percentage terms, greater than denoma's
c. A significant proportion of denoma's revenue comes from making components for other consumer electronics manufactures
d. unlike some of its major competitors, denoma has no lines of business outside consumer electronics to provide revenue when retail sales of consumer electronics are weak.
e. during the period, consumer electronics retailers sold remaining units of denoma's superseded models at prices that were deeply discounted from those models' original prices.

为什么答案选C啊,我觉得A和E还象一点。

相矛盾的现象:制造商Denoma的sales revenue大范围下降。零售商的总销售量下降,但销售D产品的sales revenue却上升。解释这paradox。
C:D的销售收入绝大部分来源于making components for other consumer electronics manufactures,而零售商的overall sales were considerably lower than in the previous year,也就是other consumer electronics manufactures的sales revenue下降,从而D的收入也下降,解释了矛盾。我当时怀疑万一二者抵消怎么办,再看 significant proportion 就明白了

A:如果增加的广告成本是与销售收入的增多孰大孰小不确定,所以解释不成立

E选项和题目冲突,题目说largely thanks to some innovative and models that denoma introduced.

而E的意思却是销售收入的增加归功于superseded(作废的,被取代的) models

我不是很同意LS的说法:
首先Sales revenue 和 profit不一样,profit=revenue-cost,所以Sales revenue的高或低和Cost没有半毛钱关系,从而我们排除A选项

而e选项说得是旧型号的产品,而题目最后一句说的是the growth大部分来自于新产品,所以E为无关选项

可不可以这样理解,是要解释原文整个收入下降,但是De这个东西卖的比以前好了。但我总觉得C选项没解释出来这个原因,先别说卖给其他人配件这个事儿,就是sig proportion, 要是反过来说占的比例小逻辑是不是也成立,
因为卖的比例小,所以即使单品销量有所上升也挽救不了整个销量下滑的趋势。
