a number line showing X>=1.5 and X<=-0.5, asks you to identify the equation that characterizes x. Ans: abs(x-0.5)>=1 DS: an area of a right angle triangle is given as x, what is x? 1) the sum of the two shorter sides is 15 (not sure about the number, but trust me it is not relevant) 2) the hypotenuse is 12 Ans: C Explaination: assume the two shorter sides are a and b therefore from 1) we have a+b=15, insufficient 2) is clearly insufficient. Combine 1) and 2) we get from 1) (a+b)^2=225, which equals to a^2+2ab+b^2=225 From 2) we get a^2+b^2=144 Subtract 1) from 2) and we get 2ab=111, there x=half ab=111/4 There were some other maths that I can't remember, but they were all pretty easy, all you had to do for many of them was just plug in numbers. Didn't do too well, considering that English is my strong point, but I can live with the score. Anyway, the RCs I encountered were all from past JJ: prerequisites for the existence of large carnivorus dinosaurs, how to improve the flow of power for manufactuering purposes, the one on vertabrates and how they breathe (did REALLY bad on this), and the last one was on how new policies allowing wrongful dismissals adversely affect businesses. Hope my JJs will be of help to some of you |
