“The value of any nation should be measured more by its scientific and artistic achievements than by its business successes.”

正:
1.        Art and science have always depended upon the successful business. Substantial scientific and artistic support now comes from foundations established by extraordinarily successful business organizations. Without the money provided by successful businesses, art and science achievements won’t develop further.
2.        the value of a nation is related to its ability to defend itself, and to help promote peace and justice among its people and other nations. A nation is more capable in both regards when its businesses enjoy greater success. Only having scientific and artistic achievements would not improve the living standards of its people. Business is essential to every nation.
反:
However, ignoring the scientific and artistic achievements is also unwise. Both of them change our daily life, making our surroundings much more convenient and beautiful.

“Since science and technology are becoming more and more essential to modern society, schools should devote more time to teaching science and technology and less to teaching the arts and humanities.”(37)

1.        Scientific knowledge is increasingly important in our technological world and in the practical world of jobs and careers. It is hard to image a person lacking of basic computer knowledge could fulfill a task in a corporation where most of the daily affairs are dealt with the aid of computer.
2.        This is not to say, however, that schools should devote less time to the arts or humanities. Studying the arts and humanities can provide students with gracious spirit. Without the guide of virtue, science can become the most dangerous weapon; however, on the other hand, with such guide, it can be the best servant of human. Moreover, studying the creative and intellectual achievement of others helps inspire our own creativity, which is important in science and technology.
总:we should combine two of them since science and technology tell us what to do, but humanities tell us what should do.

Location will continue to play a pivotal role in these businesses.
反:
Things may be different when it comes to other kinds of companies。As commuter technology and electronic communication become more and more convenient, the intangible locations on the internet have replaced the location in the real world in some business areas, such as Electronic publications, on line banks and internet retail stores.

“The most effective way for a businessperson to maximize profits over a long period of time is to follow the highest standards of ethics.”(45)

正:

2.        Meanwhile, the old customers will be stable and new customers will be attracted. For example, Toyota, one of the largest car manufacturing companies in the world, recalled one of its major products back because of some potential unsafety. By doing so, the company suffered great loss, but gained strong public support and understanding, which contributed to the long-term success of the company.
反: High ethical standards do not equal to maximal profit. Such actions as raising the price, reducing the superabundant staff might violate the cost-effective rules. Following the highest standards of ethics, the company may find it impossible to survive in the radical competitive market, let alone to gain large profit.
