1.‘and ’两边应该平行 但是为 么 that the elephant is descended from an aquatic ，而 that its trunk originally evolved 一个一般现在时，一个过去时，这样平行吗？

2.假设上边句子成立，两个都表示在陈述事实，那么 把evolved改成 was evolved 可以吗？

evolved就是谓语，是不及物动词evolve的过去式。

从意思上了解：因为象鼻作为水下通气管使用应该是大象还是“an aquatic animal”时期的事情，所以是过去时
