Columbia MBA Alumni Interview @ HK
Hey all,
Just finished interview with a Columbia Alumni in HK, not a very traditional IB background interviewer, but one who works in executive search, a very nice lady. So, wanna share my experience with other candidates here.
(So sorry my chinese is not so good so to save translation time, I rather write it in english to reflect the real setting)
My background
Big 4 IT audit / Financial audit 3.75 years
Leisure/entertainment group IA 0.5 year
GMAT: 7XX
Goal
Family Business: Wine Trading
The interview was set at my interviewer's office, small conference room. Very conversational
Process / Questions: (Interviewer said no set list of question required to be asked except one, ethical dilemma)
1. Interviewer introduction (brief introduction on her background and career b4 and after MBA)
2. Tell me about your background, what you studied and what you did after graduation
3. Plan after MBA (Mine is going back to family business in wine trading)
4. What do you like Columbia? How Columbia can help on in achieving your goals
5. How do you think the prospect of wine trading in asia? (I shared some insights on the industry) And there are keen competition since there are lots of traders so whatz the competitive edge for your company? (I said something about our supply chain and customer network)
6. Difficulties / Challenge in Family Business
7. Ethical Dilemma experienced at work (I said two senarios in my auditing / internal auditing work experience)
8. Any question to ask her
The interview is conducted in a friendly atmosphere and the interviewer said i'm a good fit (maybe out of courtesy of coz) to the school. And she also tell me this year's competition is keen (which i knew) and let her know our results.
Columbia is my dream school for the last 10 years... so... May all dreams come true~
