Employees should keep their private lives and personal activities as separate as possible from the workplace.
主:
1.        I agree with the author’s point of view towards the relationship between private life and work because bringing private life to workplaces has many bad effects on both the one who does so and people around him or her. Always thinking about one’s private life at work can distract one from his or her work. For example, a mother who worried about her child cannot efficiently focus on her task.
2.        Talking about private life and doing personal activities at work can disturb other fellow workers. It may have potentially negative influences on the morale and productivity of the team.
次:
It is inevitable for a person to think about his or her private life and to do some personal activities at the workplace. Sometimes, integrating personal life with work might foster a corporate culture that helps everyone do a better job. For example, the mother who worried her child could focus on her job if someone share her worry and help her solve the problem.
总:employees should strike a careful balance when they mix their personal lives with their jobs.

“As technologies and the demand for certain services change, many workers will lose their jobs. The responsibility for those people to adjust to such change should belong to the individual worker, not to government or to business.”

While individuals have primary responsibility for learning new skills and finding work, both industry and government have some obligation to provide them the means of doing so.
1.        I agree that individuals must assume primary responsibility for adjusting to job obsolescence. Especially since our educational system has been preparing us for it, we can keep up with the changes of the technologies and new direction of businesses. Further, only if we take actions, could we solve the problems substantially. Otherwise, people will become passive merely rely on the help coming from government or business.
2.        Industry should bear some of the responsibility as well. It is industry, after all, that determines the particular directions technological progress and subsequent social change will take. Moreover in the long run, doing so will also benefit the business.
3.        Government should also assume some of the responsibility. As the supervisor for the whole society, government should insure the well being of the society. It can provide some insurance for unemployment and give them advices for occupational choice.

Financial benefit should be the most important factor when choosing a career

正:
1.        Admittedly, financial gain is an important factor in choosing a career. People face various spendings in daily life ,and money is the security.
反:
1.        However, it does not mean that everyone should regard financial gain as the most important factor. After all, there are more factors play important roles in making job decisions, such as personal values, work environment, and corporate culture. For example, some people join the helping professions, such as nursing, teaching or social work. Although they may be not rich, they are happier than most of the contemporaries because such people gain happiness when they help the poor
2.        Making money is not an end in the end of itself, but rather a means of obtaining material goods and services and of attaining important goals—such as providing security for oneself and one’s family, lifelong learning, or freedom to travel or to pursue hobbies.
总:In my opinion, the best career is the combination of special interests and financial benefits.

“Since the physical work environment affects employee productivity and morale, the employees themselves should have the right to decide how their workplace is designed.”(68)

正:
1.        Physical workspace can affect morale and productivity and that, as a result, employees should have a significant voice in how their work areas are designed. Style of office furniture, decoration of rooms, and even desk lighting can each play an important role in employees’ comfort and efficiency, bringing them creativity and coziness.
反:
1.        However, design of workplace should dependent on the work character. Some specific workplaces must avoid too much decoration in order to appear professionally and dependably, such as government offices, audit firms and banks.
2.        Moreover, the design of workplace should be compromise to company culture. To some creative work such as fashion design, the decorating of workplace is important not only for simulating inspirations but also for showing creative abilities. However, in an audit firm which culture is prudence, too much decoration will give clients an unprofessional impression.

It is the duty for the employee to put the needs of company first.

正:
As human resources are one of the most important fortunes to a company, employees have significant influence to the company. It is no doubt that employee should put the needs of company first when working. As we all know, people are likely to act according to their short-term motives and self-interest.  Without such sense of responsibility, company will sacrifice great losses.
反:
However, in employee’s personal life, if not related to work, there is no need to put the needs of company first. After all, besides work time, personal life is much more attractive to people.  For example, enjoying family, traveling or pursuing hobbies are all important parts of one’s life. Working is just a means of obtaining material goods and services and of attaining important goals. Sacrificing one’s personal life may be not worthy to many employees.

一个人的PAY取决于How beneficial his profession is to the society

正:
Admittedly, payments depend on a person’s ability. The more a person makes contributions to the society, the more he deserves. Technicists are usually paid more than common workers because they have professional knowledge and specialties.
反:
However, it is too arbitrary to say that pay just depends on his profession to the society. Profession is surely important but other aspects, such as the ability to solve problems, creativity and communication skills, are important still. It is unwise to evaluate one’s ability just depending on his profession. For example, a teacher, who has excellent teaching skills but lacks the ability of communication with students, will not give full play to his professional knowledge.

“Employers should have no right to obtain information about their employees’ health or other aspects of their personal lives without the employees’ permission.”(60)

正:
1.        Allowing free access to personal information about employees might open the floodgates to discriminatory promotions and salary adjustments. The company should protect employees from unfair treatments based on gender, race, and marital status. However, if a manager with a view of discrimination, he might treat certain employees unfairly.
2.        Access to personal information without consent raises serious privacy concerns, especially where multiple individuals have access to the information. It will violate the right of the employee and lead to crime.
反:
As human resources are one of the most important fortunes to a company, companies should know the health conditions of their employees. The decision, whether a worker is competent for a job, is very important to a company. As we all know, a healthy condition of employee ensures productivity.

“People are likely to accept as a leader only someone who has demonstrated an ability to perform the same tasks that he or she expects others to perform.”

正:
1.        It is difficult for people to fully respect a leader who cannot do what he asks of others. It is human nature to admire then follow someone who is more competent than themselves. For example, it is hard to image a big IT company is lead by a person who has no idea of computers.
2.        It is likewise difficult to trust leaders who do not have experience in the areas under their leadership. For example, a investment raised by ………. Without such basic trust, the company would run into big problems which might relate to going concern.
反:
But a feature of a good leader is to organize people with different specialties together and let them perform as a whole. It is too ideal to expect the leaders to have all the specialties of his subordinates.

“Nations should cooperate to develop regulations that limit children’s access to adult material on the Internet.” *
*The Internet is a worldwide computer network.

1.        Adult material on the internet may have terrible effects on children with immature point of views and judgments. Pornographic 色情的material tends to confuse children---misleading their sense of sex, of the normal relationships between people, and of themselves as sexual beings. Therefore, it will distract their concentration from study to those distorted notions.
2.        Since internet has no national boundaries, nations should attempt to regulate such assess by cooperating with others. Regulations in one country will not stop “contamination” over all. Protecting children from being hurt and influenced by such materials is responsibilities of every country.
3.        Admittedly, it is quite difficult to limit these materials entirely in a short time. Cooperation might fall because of many complex factors, such as political and economic factors. But, we should still make our best efforts to limit children’s access to adult material on the Internet.
