51.    是否同意小孩子因为做家事而拿到零用钱
I agree with this ideacuz children can learn a lot if they get paid to do housework. When I was akid, my parents told me to help out around the house. At first I didn’t wannado it, so they decided to pay me for it. I loved coins cuz I could buy snacks!I did the housework and got my reward.
Then I understood thatthere is no free meal in the world. You need to work for what you want. What’smore, I began to realize how my parent love me cuz they did everything for mebut they never got paid.

52.    你的朋友有机会去离家很远的town 工作(farfrom family),你的意见。
I have two suggestions.First is to get along well with your neighbors, cuz you are alone, your neighbors are the nearest people around you. If theyare kind and willing to help, it creates warm atmosphere. For example, one timewhen I was on vacation, there was something wrong with electronic wires in myhouse and it caught fire. It was my neighbor who called 911 immediately and thefire was put out quickly. Therefore, neighbors help a lot when there aredifficulties.
Second is to keep intouch with your families frequently. I don’t mean you should call them everyday, but make sure they know your recent situation clearly.
53.    你喜欢一起复习还是study alone to prepare exam (或是复习exam)
Personally, I like the first option and I have two reasons. First, one canlearn more; second, group members offer emotional supportand encourage each other. Here is a good example. When I was studying physicsin high school, we found a study group. Before every exam, each member prepared10 questions and was responsible to explain the answers. Therefore, with thissharing spirit, one can learn more than studying alone. Also, I always rememberduring break, we talked about each other’s lives and dreams. The warmatmosphere did help me relax myself.
54.    College students should be allowedto keep pets in their dormitories
I don’t thinkcollege students should be allowed to keep pets in dorms and I have severalreasons. First it’s not hygienic to keep pets inone small room with several roommates. Even if one cleans up the livingenvironment, pets may carry some unknown diseases, which may bring potentialhealth issues.
In addition, yourroommates probably don’t like or even hate your pet, say a snack. Therefore itmay result in disputes among roommates and destroy the warm atmosphere.
Also, lookingafter the pets takes too much time and college students should engage in moresocial activities.

55.    Some students prefer to study in alibrary. Others prefer to study at home or in dormitories. Which way do youprefer and why? Include reasons and details in your response.
Personally, I likestudying in my dormitory and I have two reasons. First, effective studyrequires full concentration. If I study in a library, this kind of publicspace, I am easily distracted from my work. Even if I don’t talk to others, others would like to talk to me, for example, to borrow a pen or ask irrelevantquestions.
Second, similarly, itwould not disturb others if I play music. I mean, I don’t like talk to otherswhen I study but I really appreciate the company of music cuz they help merelax.

56.    In your opinion, what are someimportant characteristics of a good school? Use reasons and specific examplesto explain why these characteristics are important.
I think a goodschool should be open-minded.
Well, being open minded helps build up student’sconfidence. For instance, if you are not allowed to question your teacher inclassroom, how can you obtain the ability to think independently andcomprehensively?
Also, being openminded allows each individual student to develop his/her own interests. Bydesigning more selective courses and after school activities, a school trainsversatile talents.
The ultimate purpose of education isintended to build up students’ confidence in exploring and discovering unknownrespects as well as specific skills required to accomplish that.

57.    What kind of job will you choose? Tofind a job through which you can get a lot of money or to find a job throughwhich you can get great personal satisfaction? Use specific reasons andexamples to support your answer.
I think great personalsatisfaction is more important. Take my mom as an example. She enjoys writing, and is fond of adventure, that’s why she chose journalist as her job. Althoughshe is always busy while doesn’t make a big money, she is happy and respectedby others cuz journalists protect the interest of disadvantaged group in thesociety. Journalists enjoy the freedom of speech and their articles have alarge amount of audiences, the problem journalist reported can easily catchpeople’s attention and be solved. Since she can do what she likes, she alwayslooks so energetic.
58.    学校要改变食堂的菜单,提供更多,health, low calories meals,有什么利和弊?
Personally, Iwould not agree with and I have two reasons. First, we are all teenagers andgrowing up fast. Maybe it’s true that low calorie meals are healthier, but theycontain less energy. It definitely hurts our fast growing. I don’t think whenYao Ming, the basketball player, was a teenager; his parents only provided lowcalorie food rather than beef, eggs or milk.
Second, if we arelack of calories, it’s easier to feel hungry and hard to concentrate onstudying. We probably will fall asleep during class and do a bad job.
Therefore, inorder to grow up fast and do a better job, we need enough high calorie food.

59.    是否同意:看体育节目是浪费时间。
I love watchingsports on TV and I think it’s a great time to relax and learn something. Forexample, every Friday night, I will sit in front of television and watch afootball game. The ball is full of magic and you can never predict what will happen. I focus on the game andplayers' performance. Guess what? I forget all the problems I'm facing!
Besides, I canlearn how a team works to win a game. You know, teamwork is the key to successin football games. So I can think about how to apply their experiences in mydaily work.
60.    选择你学习过的2 所学校,描述他们的不同。
I have attendedtwo universities, the Johns Hopkins University in America and NanjingUniversity in China. Due to the differences between two education systems, thetwo distinguish one from another. Nanjing University emphasizes a lot onacademic success. Students are aiming at decent grades. While in Hopkins, students spend more time and energy on social activities. For example, I only attended a football fan’s club in Nanjing Universityand our activities were always canceled due tothe large amount of homework, however, in Hopkins, I was a member of a JargonBoat team, also a volunteer teacher in a local community.

61.    现代电子产品上市,你是喜欢已上市就买,还是喜欢过一段时间再买。
I prefer thesecond option and I have two reasons. First, I’m not a super fan of newhigh‐tech devices. Look at my cell phone; it’s still a “non‐smart” phone with no camera orinternet connection. It usually takes a long time to get used to a newhigh-tech device. Since I am lack of interest, it’s a tough task.
Also, in general, price of this kind of products isnegatively associated with the length of time since they’ve been on market. Sofrom the economic perspective, waiting for a while wouldallow me to buy the same product at a lower price.

62.    你hometown 的学校要给学生弄个after-classactivities,你有什么建议?
I’d like to recommend the high school to provide physicalactivity. It has several benefits.
First, studyingat the desk and keeping the same posture all day may bring health issues, suchas back pain or obesity; while physical activity can help us strengthen andrelax our bodies.
Second, intensive academic life is quite stressful. Exercisewould always cheer students up.
Also, physicalactivity such as basketball or soccer requires teamwork. Students can learn howa team works together to win a game and apply their experience in their dailylife.
63.    Do you agree people will read fewerbooks in the future?
I agree with thisstatement cuz looking at the situation today, it’s not hard to predict thefuture. I feel like as time goes by, people aregradually distracted by other types of entertainment rather than reading.
When I was young, the recreations after school were limited togames such as hide-and-seek or fairytale books. While magazines and newspaperswere really significant for adults cuz theyprovided information.
But now, everytime I see my younger cousin, he is holding atablet and playing angry birds. Adults would like to spend their free time onmovies or TV programs.

64.    Describe a type of music you do notenjoy. Explain why you don’t like this kind of music. Include specific reasonsand examples in your response.
65.    Some people believe that theuniversity students should focus on their school work. Others believe that theuniversity students should also attend club activities on campus. Use specificreasons and examples to support your answer.
I firmly support the ideathat university students should also attend club activities and I have tworeasons. First, my personal experience tells me besides decent grade, howimportant friends are in college. When I was a freshman, I spent too much timeon study, although I got all A in my courses, I ended up with no friends toshare this happiness. Therefore, I joined a dancing club in the second year andit helped broaden my horizon and make friends. Second, college is the last stopbefore you step in society. Attending club activities helps to prefect yoursocial skill, which is essential to find a decentjob.
66.    Describe a special opportunity givento you. Why does this opportunity so special to you? Your explanation shouldinclude specific details and examples.
During the second summerholiday in college, I seized an opportunity to be an intern in an international public relationcompany. It was special to mecuz it was the first time I got to know an international company; one thing Ilearnt is to state your opinion honestly as long as you are prepared, even ifit’s unique, even if you are a junior. There was one time we were organizing anactivity, I did a lot of work, including making a video to prove that if it was startedwith break dance rather than a speech, it would be more impressive. I persuaded other colleaguesand it turned out to be a success.
