Geologists believe that the Bering land brighe, over which human beiings（ are thought to have first entered） the Americas, disappeared about 14,000 years ago when massive glaciers melted and caused the sea level to rise several hundredes feet worldwide.

E.Were thought to first enter为什么不对？
我认为1）人通过白令海峡是过去的事情，应该使用一般过去时。
       2）be thought to 后的动词形势没有用现在完成时的必要。

1) are 一定用现在时。若用过去时，就代表过去是这样认为的，而现在不这样。并且前面已经用了Geologists believe 这样的现在式，表示现在。
2）to have 后的 have 其实是had，用不定式当然改成to have 。这个动作是发生在disappeared about 14,000 years 的disappeared之前的
3）在这题中 glaciers melted and caused the sea level 的and连接的前后，前为因后为果。在GMAT的语法部分and有这种作用。
