这里有一个搭配是“as much because A as because B" ，because A 与 because B 之间应该是平行结构，答案D中"had been"与“were getting"时态上一个是过去完成时，一个是过去进行时，并不是完全符合呀，是不是只要都是过去时就可以了呢？

这里考察的固定搭配是as much ……as……，是要求两个省略号的地方平行，并不是as much because A as because B之中的A 和 B要平行。

两个because的存在就是为了保证平行~~~~D选项已经完全符合平行要求的啦，E选项的that就破坏了平行。

所以这里不存在时态不平行的问题。

另外，要求平行的结构里并不是两个时态一致的选项就是对的。能表达清楚句意的时态就是正确的时态。
