今天拿到签证了, 真开心.
早上7点多到的领馆, 人非常多; 8点半左右拿牌子进去, 快11点出来. 签商务和探亲的人占绝大多数.
vo签证的速度比我想象中快, 有一段时间叫号的声音接连不断, 感觉不到两分钟就能签一个. 不过叫号似乎没有什么特定规律, 我没敢坐下来, 一直靠墙站着看号码牌.
总体形势不错,似乎现在对于商务卡得紧一些,不少人被拒,倒是探亲的老人们大多顺利过了,排在我前面的阿姨去看女儿签出来了,掩不住满脸喜悦,远远向我做了个V字手势.
我看得最清楚的两个VO, 10号窗口的应该就是glassboy, 他签得比较慢, 对一个签F1的(看上去年纪很小)问了很久, 也很细, 似乎有关于存折上某一笔具体数额的钱来源的问题, 最终还是给了绿条. 坐11号窗口是个微微有些胖的女VO, 签得比较快, 但好象是商务/探亲的居多.
等了好久, 我看到女VO走过去拿了一叠新的ds表, 叫到的号码开始变的有规律起来, 从281开始, 挨个往下叫了好几个, 我猜自己大概会给她签--因为我是287.
猜得没错, 我听到叫号马上快步走到窗口, 可是前面的人还没走, 我开始以为她在收拾文件, 走近了就听她一直和vo说, 你再看看, 你再看看... 女VO就摇头说了些什么, 这才知道她是被拒了. 她一直不肯走开, 我只好把抱着的四个大文件袋放在一边, 老老实实地站在旁边等. 后来是保安过来把她劝走的... 我看见女VO的眉头拧得紧紧的, 心里也紧了一下, 不过, 硬着头皮上吧, 希望她别把情绪转移到我身上
me:(smile) nice to meet you!
v (smile) ok, so in which school are you going to study?
me: the university of...
v what is the major?
me: master of accounting, blablabla...
v how do you pay for you study?
me: my father will sponsor me for the graduate study.
v what is his job?
me: my father works for XXX , he is in XXX department, he has an annual salary of XXX.
v what is your mother's job?
me: my mother works for XXX, he is in charge of XXX, he ( at that moment, i realized i made a common foolish he/she mistake), sorry, she
v (smile) it is ok, how much is her annual income
me: xxx per year.
v how much is her annual income?
me: (did not catch that ) pardon?
v your mother's annual income
me: XXX per year ( i realized that as my mother's salary was not that high, VO is a bit doubt about the figure)
v ok, so what is the total amount of your parent's savings?
me: it is about...(i took out the asset list and hand it to VO). madam, you can find the amount of savings on the first line, and my family has some other investment, such as the treasury bond and stock, you can find them on the following lines.

me: And here are all the original deposit forms (give VO the deposit forms)
V (check all the deposit forms one by one), it is all right.
me: madam, do you want to... (wondered whether she want to see the bank certificates and my parents' income certificates, which we have carefully parepared )
v ( interrupted), ok, so how long will the graduate program last?
me: 12 months.
v what will you plan to do after graduation?
me: i will come back to shanghai and ...blablabla...
V (BIG SMILE) ok, i wish you enjoy your graduate study in the U.S., please go to window...
AND THE MAGICAL LITTLE GREEN SLIP WAS ALREADY IN MY HAND
me: Thank you very much madam and have a nice day.
V you too, and here are your documents ( give me back the i20, ad letter and other materials)
后面的人很快上来,我赶紧抱起所有的材料离开窗口, 让到旁边去整理, 顺便让自己冷静一下, 说实话,我真没有回过神来, 当我站到vo窗口跟前的时候,是准备被好好“盘问“一番的。
其实现在回想起来整个签证的过程很快,两分钟左右,vo没有刁难我,而且态度很nice, 面谈过程一直是微笑状态,这个之前真没有想到。
我在准备工作上花了大量的时间,所有的材料都很细致,做到有备无患;针对自己的材料做了一个VISA Q&A; 也花了不少时间来熟悉财务方面的基本知识,以防被问到类似LIFO/FIFO之类的术语的问题(不过现在看来,这一点似乎有点多虑)。虽然签证的时候,准备的4袋文件只打开了一袋,问题也只被问了一些很常规的,不过也算是尽心地做完了这件事。
昨晚一度很紧张,因为不知道签证到底会怎样,如果整个的申请过程砸在最后一步,真的会很难受。不过今天从在领馆下面排队开始,到在大厅里等候,心情却渐渐平静下来--有那么多的人一起在做同一件事,也许为了不同的目标,不过大家都在一样地按部就班--排队、领卡、安检、交表、等待、面谈,随后有人欣喜,有人愁。
在和vo讲话的过程中,我觉得vo并不是传说中被妖魔化或者绝对理性化的形象,vo在做着自己的工作,有办事的规则,有情绪,但也是可以沟通的人。所以放一颗平常心来想,签证也只是一件需要去做的事情,就像申请中的每一步一样,尽力准备,冷静对待就好。
