"Tilting", not 'tilt', is a Seismic Deformation term.

e.g.

One or more major landforms of the NYC area are due to uplift, depression or tilting caused by deformation.

我的理解时tilt=sloping position tilting是动词性的名词＝动名词。tilt of the Earth's crust 一个状态，地球表层的倾斜，tilting of the Earth's crust，有这多种的状态，一个过程，地球的表层变得倾斜。不知道这样解释楼主可以理解了吗？不行，我们可以继续交流。
