D. a fact demonstrated by the 1992 Olympic Games 是一个完整的句子，而没有连词与前面的完整句子连接，所以是一个 run-on sentence.  而且which-clause中were 也不对。

E as 指代前面整个句子，作demonstrate 的宾语。

但有一点不太同意，D 中a fact demonstrated by the 1992 Olympic Games 不应该是完整句子吧。 a fact 指代前边整句话，同位语，demonstrated...是它的后置定，which 修饰olympic games，虽然后边的were错了
