og11-97

97. The stars, some of them at tremendous in motion just as the planets are, yet being so far away from Earth that their apparent positions in the sky do not change enough for their movement observed during a single human lifetime.

(A) The stars, some of them at tremendous speeds, are in motion just as the planets are, yet being

(B) Like the planets, the stars are in motion, some of them at tremendous speeds, but they are

(C) Although like the planets the stars are in motion, some of them at tremendous speeds, yet

(D) As the planets, the stars are in motion, some of them at tremendous speeds, but they are

(E) The stars are in motion like the planets, some of which at tremendous speeds are in motion but

Placement of the modifying phrase and the comparison are awkward and ineffective; being provides neither a subject nor a verb for the second main clause.

The stars, some of them at tremendous speeds, are in motion just as the planets are, 其中at tremendous speeds这句不知道是从哪里来的,因为之前并没有提到motion。

我又想了想,A里面用at tremendous speeds来修饰them(stars)确实会引起很多歧义。

I think A is incorrect because having "some of them at tremendous speeds" in front of "are in motion just as the planets are" is confusing.  One could mistake that some planets are also moving at tremendous speed, but in fact the author only tried to compare the motion of the stars to that of planets.
