C is the correct answer, however, I think the "derive" should be "derives" because the S is "Aramaic script"...

Does it mean the "script" is a pl. ? I don't think so.

In addition, I think the "northern and southern" is 泛指, we should use "the northern and the southen" to specified refer to somebody. Thus I think D is also wrong.

I don't think there is a correct answer, but according to the correct sequence, I have to correct D.

倒装句

Both the northern and the southern Indian alphabets derive from the Aramaic script.

from which=where, 在定语从句中做状语，该定语从句的主语是both the north and the south...这里是倒装。定语从句可以倒装语序，名词性从句不能倒装要用陈述句语序。

请问一下，倒装这个玩意儿怎么看出来的？我做这道题的时候想了半天怎么没有主语？...很明显是derive alphabets from it...

但是我的疑问时，derive不需要被动么？

Both the northern and the southern Indian alphabets derive from the Aramaic script --〉就是说both南和北 印度的字母都是由script衍生出来的...

难道不应该用被动么？indian alphabets are derived from the Aramaic script....???

我觉得DERIVE FROM 是可以接受的。根据LONGMAN的解释：

1 [transitive] to get something, especially an advantage or a pleasant feeling, from something

derive something from something

Medically, we will derive great benefit from this technique.

这里DERIVE是不是用被动，并不是区分答案的标志。使用被动的选项A中有更严重的指代错误。
