I did not get a very competitive score on the GMAT, but I think it is good enough to get admitted by the school that I am in favor of. I only came across 1 math JJ, which is the problem of "以下是一堆相同相切的圆, 圆的半径是r,把圆心连起来,六边型周长为36,求圆和圆之间那6个间隙的面积和" and 1 reading JJ, which is about John Locke's "theory of labor value" and its relationship with "capitalistic commodity goods" and I could say that the verbal problems on the real exam are far more difficult than those on the Prep.
AWA:
1) The following appeared as part of an article in a magazine devoted to regional life.
“Corporations should look to the city of LACE>HeliosLACE> when seeking new business opportunities or a new location. Even in the recent recession, Helios’s unemployment rate was lower than the regional average. It is the industrial center of the region, and historically it has provided more than its share of the region’s manufacturing jobs. In addition, Helios is attempting to expand its economic base by attracting companies that focus on research and development of innovative technologies.”
2) “Employees should keep their private lives and personal activities as separate as possible from the workplace.”
Math: cannt remember much of them, I am sorry.
Verbal: RC 1(Long): The expansion of Alder forest. Old scientific view: the expansion was due to the climatic change; current scientific finding: the expansion is due to the human activity. Pay attention to those characteristics of the forest in the passage and make sure that you understand the meaning of "genetic mutation". Also pay attention to the first couple of sentences of the 2nd paragraph, such as "east-to-west", "western Britian", and etc. Last thing to be aware of is the meaning of "felling/falling of the Alder forest" in the last paragraph.
RC 2: Cornelia Hughes Dayton's Women Before the Bar: Gender, Law, and Society in Connecticut, 1639-1789. Women's participation in the civil cases which are debt-related. This passage is very confusing and contains lots of "conceptual words" and unclear sentence structures. Make sure that you know clearly what's going on among the women and the men who participated in those civil cases related / unrelated to the debt issues.
RC 3: sales strategy recommanded to a special type of companies which are not very concerned about after-sales activities and so on; instead, those companies are more favor in selling their products in a dicounted prices in a bundle. Pay attention to the last couple sentences in the 1st paragrah and the whole 2nd paragraph. Keep in mind that what strategy the author recommands.
SC and CR: prepare yourself for reading lots of LONG and ABSURD sentences. (the level of difficulty is much higher than those on the Fei Fei and GWD). I did not come across any BF questions but two questions of "fill-in- the- blank".
No more GMAT and I could refocus myself on the study of accounting ...YAY... Two interviews are on the way next week, and hopefully I could get 50%-80% of the assistantship/fellowship. |
