[申请攻略] Duke MBA Info Session Summary,包括AO宣讲和alumni tips
昨天去参加了Duke MBA Info Session,下面是宣讲的总结。hope this helps 没参加的同志们。
没有记录个人提问部分,仅仅是AO宣讲和alumni tips。若有错误遗漏希望有人补充呀,我不想误导别人啊。
Application tips from AO
WE:- Show now is the time 、MBA is a logical next step
- Lead project(outside work leadership OK)
Resume- 1 page only
- Show career promotion and impact
- Look professional
- Internship experience OK but not essential
Academics- GPA
- GMAT(to normal questions like whether to retake the exam,the answer is if you think you can do better,just take it)
- GRE accepted
Recommendation- Choose wisely(someone can give us highlights about you AND have time to do so)
- Don’t copy。。。(I miss this part, did he mention that if you write it for them and they copy into the system, AO will definitely know that?)
- Explain if you cannot choose recommender in current setting(where to?optional essay OK?I missed this too somebody pls help)

Tips about life in duke from alumni
The hardest thing to do as Chinese & regrets & soft skills- Be humbly aggressive, present yourself, speak up, gain confidence,
- Know about social context such as sports(football and baseball)
- Step our your comfort zone and network
- Smartly use your advantages and contribute to the team
- Network with someone with similar context first(jp, south Korean)
- Push yourself to improve language skills
- Try something new, always challenges, out of comfort zone
- Know yourself, what you want, where to develop your skills , think it through , listen to yourself and pick one and then network from day one
- Get to know people and stay focused
- Know your strength and weakness, do not compete others s strength with your weakness; you will be fine
- Work hard, play hard
- Do not worry about your face, just speak up
- Try to find something you are good at, be well prepared and contribute, then you will be popular as team member
- Network with non-Chinese
