AO: Ok, I can provide you that feedback session. We have about 15 minutes 
to discuss your application. 

Me: Thank you. Firstly, I’d like to know what your concerns are about my 
application. 

AO: Ok. Let’s see. In terms of your academics, the committee saw that you 
are very strong there, and with your GMAT score was very strong as well. So 
there were no concerns academically. 

In terms of your work experience, I should mention that the average 
applicant had about 6 year work experience. And your work experience was 
probably a little bit lighter, not quite strong as others in that apply. 

In terms of your essays, let’s see, the committee thought that you had 
some pretty solid essays. Your first essay was very solid, and your second 
essay was probably on the average what we saw. Your third and fourth essays 
were very good as well. 

I know your fifth essay talked about your undergraduate grade. You maybe 
not be quite as your 2.8, but the committee thought that was fine. They 
understood the explanation was as good as well. Your recommendations were 
good. 

It looks that the main area where you were a little bit short was your work 
experience. That was all the committee talked about. 

Me: Thank you. Then my second question is that what’s the biggest weakness 
of my application? 

AO: Oh, let me see… (Turning pages) It looks like probably in terms of 
committee not thinking you had quite enough experience yet. In terms of 
what we saw in the rest applicant pool, was good, but not quite as strong 
as others who in terms of how different activities that they responsible 
for. For example, others’ stronger experience maybe managed a lot of 
people, or ran teams, or managed a lot of projects. Maybe the way they 
talked about it in their essays came across a little bit stronger. 

Me: Do you think that the work experience is the biggest weakness of me? 

AO: Yes! But that your work experience is not to say that is bad at all, it 
just was not as strong as others’ in the pool. 

Me: Do you think that if I have another year or two year experience in my 
company, things will be better? 

AO: Yes. 

Me: Thank you. You know I really like Wharton program, and I plan to 
reapply next year, do you have any suggestions for me to improve my 
application? 

AO: I think that as long as if you get one or two more years experience to 
make sure you include in your essays that you talk about the added 
experience, that will help you improve your application. There is one other 
issue that I didn’t mention but I do would mention to you is that you 
applied in the third round as well. The third round was probably the 
toughest round of all the three rounds we have, as most comparative. 

Me: Yes. You mean that if I have another two more year experience, I can be 
more sure? 

AO: You know that maybe not even two, maybe just even one. 

Me: Yes, I see. Do think that there are some problems in my essays? 

AO: Not any big problems at all. They were very solid. 

Me: In your eyes, how about my teamwork and leadership skills that are 
expressed in my application? 

AO: Let’s see. I am looking at the notes of committee here, but there were 
no notes here. No negative notes at all, so there were nothing negative, 
but the committee didn’t write at whole positive stuff either. So it looks 
to be on average what we have. Ok, I think we have another minute. 

Me: Ok. Do you have any other suggestions that you can give me, please? 

AO: No, I think that’s all the notes, that’s all the committee talked 
about, so there is no other suggestions that I can give. All right? So good 
luck! 

Me: Oh, so time is over? 

AO: Yes.
