Although most modern histories of Cyprus mention that an earthquake occurred near the island in A.D.365, the event occurred near the island in A.D. 365     deos not mean that     the destruction was due to a major earthquake known to have occurred near the island in A.D.365.

C是承认有地震这个事实，但并不能证明城市就毁于该地震，所以对科学家的假设（城市毁于地震）没有任何作用。

推论是 Most modern histories of Cyprus mention that an earthquake occurred near the island in A.D.365。具体被摧毁的年代应该是支持的重点，因为题干中已经说明废墟有是被地震摧毁的特征。所以B项指出AD365年出现文化断裂，支持了推论。

    补充一下：

此题为support类型，从题干中可以抓住两点需要support的地方，即destruction（the effect）和in A.D365（the time）。那么如chenjie所说choice C only support 第一点：destructuion，而没有support第二点：the time.

choice B显然上述两点都得到了support。
