“is normal 更合适些。 ... than, as都可以看做代词作主语用，保留谓语。
1. Do not eat more than is good for you
2. It may be more important than would seem ...”

觉得7986 MM讲的没错。但不知道这两种情况有什么区别？"was colder and wetter than usual in some regions" VS " is larger than is normal for a member of the insect class"。 usual后的IN和FOR造成的不同？请明白人帮我解释一下。 谢谢了。

Why in this question choose "usual" instead of "was normal"? I am confused. What's the difference?

我的理解: 原文weather, colder and wetter...中没有出现BE, 所以than后面也用不着. than is normal 那句原文有be在前面出现.

和这道题目类似的有这样一道题：

我原来觉得为什么不选择C呢？解释说这个was多余了应该删去。

但我以前学到过，在比较里面不上助动词或者be动词是不错的。

 

再想想我觉得自己明白了，在我这道题和LZ问的题目中，比较的前部分都不是一个完整句子，而是n. +adj. than...的结构，这样我要对称的话，前面不是句子就没有was我怎么能在后面添一个was呢！

 

如果LZ的题目改为the weather was colder and wetter than was usual in some regions，那这里后面这个was加的就是对的。
